"Food was superb, service not so great. Waiting staff need to communicate better (and cheer up) consequently the 10% service charge automatically added to the bill was a tad optimistic. Regarding value: 2 x main courses, 1 x side dish, 2 x chapatis and 2 x small glasses of wine for £60....I'll let you decide. Saying all that I would return."

"I are here a few weeks ago with a group of friends really enjoyed it. So last night I went back with a different friend after raving about it. Sadly it didn’t match my 1st experience. Started off great with a friendly welcome. We were taken to our cute table on the very top floor. Restaurant was warm cosy the smell of garlic was very inviting. Although it was a Saturday night it didn’t seem manically busy by the time we arrived the bigger parties were pretty much finishing up. We were served our drinks quickly placed our starter/main order within 10 mins. Garlic bread starter was tasty but soggy. Mains were a pasta dish the Gorgonzola rib eye. My steak was nice but only lukewarm. I’d have sent it back if anyone had bothered to come ask how our food was but they didn’t. This sadly set the scene for the whole meal. When we finished our plates were removed but we were not offered more drinks our glasses were obviously empty. No one asked if we wanted desserts or coffee which we did we were simply ignored. Irritated, we waited 10 mins as we were happy chatting but we watched the girls serve other tables their coffees etc decided that they deserved no more of our time or money. I managed to finally get the bill we showed our disapproval with the inattentive “service” by omitting their tip as it was undeserved. Not sure I’d bother returning which is a shame as the food prices are good"

"The staff were happy to accommodate our large group consisting of people, outside and away from other diners. We were seated promptly and a waitress took our drinks order. We were also given menus. The drinks arrived and some of the glasses had bright red lipstick marks on them. Yuk. We politely asked for some replacements. At this point we were still deciding what food to order. When we were ready the conversations went something like: Us:”I’d like a Hawaiian pizza please”. Waitress: “oh no, there’s no pizza today because the pizza chef isn’t here”. Us: “oh okay, why didn’t this get mentioned minutes ago when you gave us the menu?” Waitress: shrugs. All the teenagers had to choose another option. Us:”I’d like the sea bass please”. Waitress: “oh, there’s no sea bass” etc etc. While we totally understand there are staffing issues and supply issues in the food business at present but couldn’t see why they didn’t tell us on arrival or at least when the menus were handed out? The food arrived and it was pretty good. One of our group nearly got her risotto in her lap as a young waitress was only on her second shift. I’d only ever heard good things about this pub but based on this experience none of us are keen to return. The restaurant industry is on its knees and while I’m totally sympathetic, they need to be more organised and ensure the staff are briefed and more dynamic."
