"I was recommended to go to Zigfrid's by another Geelong restaurant who were booked out. I went on my own as I was in Geelong on business. The wait staff were warm and welcoming and explained the menu to me. I decided to order entree, main and dessert without understanding the size of the main and that it would normally be treated as a shared dish. I had the haloumi to begin with which was beautiful. While I was only a quarter of the way into this my main meal arrived. I asked for it to be returned as I was not ready for it. The staff checked with me to see if I was ready for my main meal of lamb shoulder. When it arrived, it was very cool - as if it had been sitting around since I sent it back during my entree. I did not send it back to be reheated and just had a tiny taste of the dish as the coolness caused the fat to congeal on the lamb. Dessert of a peanut butter parfait with a quenelle of chocolate and a most amazing sauce completed my evening meal - delicious. I would certainly give this restaurant another go - I think they must be new. One comment - I went on a cold winter night and found the ambience very cold. There was also a large party with children attending - the children were constantly going in and out of the doors, letting in cold air. This did little to add to the atmosphere."

"I came here with my friend after work and it had great reviews on google review (4.5/5 stars). I don't think I will ever come back again. I ordered futomaki and okonomiyaki while my friend ordered katsudon ramen. The katsudon ramen looked nothing like the photo and the taste was mediocre. The futomaki had ingredients missing from it. It was missing bean, mushroom and Japanese pickles; 3 out of the 6 ingredients listed on the menu. I was greatly disappointed. It had a whole lot of carrots inside which dampened the taste. One positive thing about the futomaki was the rice. The sushi rice was spot on. The okonomiyaki was more like an egg pancake. It smelt strongly of fried eggs and just...read more"
