"Zen has always been one of our go to places for lunch in Chelmsford but the last two visits have been extremely disappointing. When we arrived a couple of weeks ago the place was half empty at 12:30 but we were advised there was a...twenty minute wait. It was unclear whether this was for a table (but they were half empty or for food as no further explanation was forthcoming save for to usher us out of the restaurant. Today, in view of the experience outlined above we booked a table. We arrived on time and the restaurant was fairly busy but again, several empty tables. This time we were told there was a half hour wait and when I pointed out we had booked I was told that wasn't good enough as I had booked earlier? No idea what this means but again we were simply ushered out of the restaurant. It's simply not good enough to make a reservation at a specific time to be told you cannot sit and eat as expected. very frustrating as this has always been a favourite place for fresh delicious good value food but they will now have lost the custom of the majority of the staff in our office."
