"First night in San Francisco was a success because of this friendly and affordable Chinese treasure trove. The dishes we ordered were all fantastic and my rabid family scarfed them all four dishes down whithin minutes. Each one was executed very well and was delicious with the accompanying rice. I am sure I have waited longer for my food at McDonalds than at this place! More like Hunan Cafe #1"

"Quick Summary: I have low spice tolerance, and spicy dishes are very spicy Lightly seasoned for most dishesWe visited here on a busy weekday lunch hour, but we were able to get a seat before it became high rush hour. For this round I was mostly anticipating what the dishes will be as one of the group members ordered. However, I did request to try the hot and sour soup, so that happily got into the ordering mix. We did order a couple, but the soups arrived first. The hot and sour soup was very spicy. It is the 'first sip is the dangerous ' kind, where one mistake could send one coughing. I tried not to, but it is close. The soup also emitted a cozy warmth from the stomach, so while it was spicy it was nice.Some of the dishes I ordered I wasn 't able to take photos, but my favorite was a dish with beef pan fried with peppers. The seasoning was a dry rub kind, so there was no sauce. The beef was very flavorful because of the spices, that were sprinkled on top."

"Soooo good!! We got the 1. House Beef Noodle Soup. Each bowl is humongous! The biggest I've ever seen. Warning that it did come with tripe, however, which was not expected. It has slices of beef and beef meatballs as well. It was so delicious. Single stall bathroom (1 male 1 female) which was was very clean. Shared sink outside of stalls. They do NOT accept ApplePay or digital wallets, however, so don't forget to bring cash or a credit card."

"Spicy spicy spicy! Reminiscent of my father 's favorite Hunan food. The portions are large but the tab is also quite pricy- almost $20 per person for a very casual lunch place. I might not come back due to the price point but the food was delicious. The ambience of this place is very fast casual. An interesting note for this place is that the menu is completely in English. One thing I do not recommend is the scallion pancake from here. To tastebuds who aren 't familiar with the dish- it should have more scallions and Chinese 5 spice. Instead this version was a pan fried flat dough with four brown-looking onions. However in a positive note, the default level of spicy was good, even for someone like me who considers themselves to have a pretty good spice tolerance, I got a huge kick in the throat. I am curious to see what 'very spicy ' is like but not sure I want to dish out another $20."
