"Wir hatten ausländischen Besuch und wollten mit diesem gerne zum Schauinsland. Leider war in dieser Woche dort alles geschlossen, so dass wir erstmal ziellos durch die Gegend fuhren bis wir auf die Holzschlägermatte trafen und spontan beschlossen dort auf einen Kaffee einzukehren und neue Pläne zu schmieden.Die Holzschlägermatte ist gemütlich und rustikal eingerichtet.Nach dem Einkehren entschlossen wir uns dort zu essen, da wir unserem Besuch die regionale Küche zeigen wollten und die Karte davon reichlich zu bieten hatte.Auch die Auslagen an frischem selbstgebackenem Kuchen hat überzeugt.Wie bestellten einen Querschnitt und aßen quer über die Teller: Selbst geräucherten Lachs (der Beste, den ich je gegessen habe!) mit Feldsalat, selbstgemachte Käsespätzle und Wild-Maultaschen.Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist hervorragend und der Service absolut freundlich, unkompliziert und am Wohl des Kunden orientiert.Fazit: Der "zufällige Abstecher zur Lagebesprechung" wurde unerwartet eins der Highlights der ganzen Reise. Sollten wir nochmal in die Gegend kommen steht ein Besuch dort fest auf dem Plan! =)"

"Very good price-quality, but the waiter took things at his own pace, we had to go inside to pay after we got the bill because he forgot about us. Also I was really missing a can of spicy oil to put on my pizza. Nevertheless, the food was great for the price."

"My seasonal special tagliatelle with deer goulash was unique and delicious, tender meat cubes, ripped apart but al dente cooked tagliatelle with a hunt of thymian. The lasagna my company ordered was pretty awesome to and even the bread basket was special with bread spiked with olives, capers and anchovies. Nice one."

"I discovered by coincidence while as was walking in the train station, the place has units, one with take away and sitting area and the other with fine gourmet items and standing counter. i purchased some nice gourmet products and enjoyed a drink at...the counter. Very helpful staff. Nice surrounding to wait for the train"
