"This restaurant is not very diner friendly. I had order the cheeseburger medium and also asked if I could substitute the fries with the mashed potatoes. The waitress informed me that there would be an extra charge for that. When I pointed out to her that the price was the same on the menu under Sides she argued that those portions are bigger than the one that is served with the cheeseburger. I did not want to argue but it begs the question of why couldn't they make the portion of mashed potatoes comparable to the portion of fries that they serve with the cheeseburger? When they brought my burger it was overcooked, more well done than medium, but I let that go too. I also did not complain when the dessert I ordered, which was the apple cider donut holes, were overcooked. I did finally speak up when the decaf coffee that I ordered was lukewarm. The waitress brought me a fresh hot cup and did not charge me the for it to compensate. Which brings me to my final point which is, for the amount of money that this restaurant charges overpriced their service accommodating a simple request and cooking how hard is it to cook a burger?! should be impeccable, and sadly it is not"

"HANDS DOWN the best restaurant in Evanston! It might even be one of my favorites in the whole Chicago area. Granted, I’ve only lived in suburbs three months but it can’t possibly get better than The Barn Steakhouse. The decor 5 stars! The service 5 stars! The food 5 stars! The cocktails… you get the picture. This place is bomb. First off the decor is straight up gorgeous. There’s a big feature chandelier, and the lighting is just right. Flatteringly dark, but you can see the menu and your food. The service is also phenomenal. Super friendly and helpful. And then just when I was thinking that I don’t even care how the food is, I’m coming back for the ambiance and cocktails… The STEAK! The SALAD! And the MASHED POTATOS! And that CAVIAR SANDWICH! Perfection. I can’t believe that all of our new Evanston friends didn’t immediately spill the beans about this place maybe they’re hoping to keep the reservations available for themselves? Honestly, I almost didn’t post this review because SAME. I want to eat here every day. There’s even a $35 prix fixe deal if you take the 5 6 pm dinner slot."

"I had the Trio for those who want something lite, the Goat Cheese and Honeycomb was Amazing! I wish there were more drinks besides beer for Happy Hour Choices. When the Atmospheric lighting comes on you will need your phone for the Flashlight to read the menu. Enjoy"

"The first two times I dined at Red Hot Chilli Pepper the service was great. The most recent and third time the service was subpar. The restaurant was empty when we arrived yet we waited for 15 minutes before anyone even brought water. I tried flagging down two servers and they basically ignored me. When our water finally appeared he said he was on a call....what...? The food was ok not a great as previous visits and our orders were not completely accurate. No one refilled water or asked of we would like an second glass of wine. I don't think I'll be returning and that is unfortunate."
