"Tidy little restaurant on the corner of State St. I SO wanted this to be a wonderful meal but it was really disappointing. The food WAS generally tasty , but a long time in coming and only warm. The menu is a dinner menu and we went for lunch. We had to ask about lunch specials of which there was only 1 and we were not shown the special but it was described to us. There were three ‘thali’ dishes, rice and a nana bread. The rice was white rice and I would have expected basmati rice at the very least, or pilau rice, not white. The naan bread was flat, greasy, and more like a chapati than a naan bread. All in all a disappointing meal."

"My sister and brother in law came to visit me for the holidays. I made a reservation at andiamo for this past Friday. Making the reservation was unfortunately the best part of the experience. We asked to be at a high top for the live music when I called and the woman who answered said no problem we have 6 and 8pm available. I requested the 6pm reservation expecting to eat dinner and then spend the night enjoying cocktails, dancing, and time with my family from California. We told the host that we would take the 6 pm reservation to enjoy dinner and music. We arrived a couple minutes before 6 and were sat right away. After being sat the host explained that we had to be out by 8pm for another party to come in. (I would have taken the 8pm had this been explained in the original phone call). Our server Sarah was phenomenal however we had to cut her conversations short to make sure we got up in time . Closer to 8pm we could tell the young woman manager was looking at us and talking to other staff members about how we needed to get up: This made my family more than uncomfortable. Food was decent, nothing extraordinary. We ate our dinner anyways anticipating the music and fun time we expected to have. We sucked it up when it came time to give up our table that we reserved FOR MUSIC and chose to remain standing and drinking after. Once again the manager was giving us dirty looks the entire time until we got up. If our server wasn 't so great we would have cut our visit short and just left. Music began, it was fantastic! The entertainment must be the only reason anyone is in there at all on a Friday night. Our drinks were OK however my guests and I noticed that our cocktails tasted different each time we ordered them. We were told music was until 11:30 however before 11pm the manager called last call, turned the lights up, and kicked everyone out in the most unprofessional way I had ever seen. This is supposed to be a nice establishment, not a sports bar where the manager runs around yelling drink your drinks because they are going to pull our drinks and lock up . I planned this for my family after going here about 6 months ago and having a great experience but to say the least it 's gone very down hill. On our way out we chose to hang around and have some conversation before parting ways near our car. Once again we saw the manager and another staff member walk outside and within minutes the air smelled strongly of marijuana. I understand being kicked out of our table, I don 't understand being kicked out before the time they normally close up so the staff could go get high. Not to mention all we could hear was the staff and manager talking about how awful all of the guests were as well as how much the night sucked and they needed a drink . Im thankful our server Sarah cared as much as she did because as far as the other staff members and management smoking marijuana, complaining about their guests, and closing early was much more important. I have heard from a lot of my friends who used to frequent andiamo that they had been closing early and going down hill. This truly ruined my holiday with my family as well as confirmed that I will NEVER go back to this sub par establishment. The best part? I met the owner that evening. He seemed very professional, however he clearly has no idea what goes on once his back is turned and what kind of people are working for him, but then again, many of my friends in Newburyport have told me the owners aren 't present like they used to be and no longer care about their business. Maybe if the staff wasn 't busy out back getting high my family and I 's holiday could have been great. It also seems that the current staff is much more unprofessional than it was in our first experience. I 'm more than embarrassed to have set up this surprise for my family. The level of unprofessionalism was astounding, clearly this place needs a manager and/or the owner to start caring again. My family and I had visited many other restaurants in the Newburyport this week and they all blew this place out of the water. Keep your Friday night singer because without him this place wouldn 't have a leg to stand on. We spent hundreds of dollars to have a mediocre experience, the owner and server were nice however, that wasn 't enough to make up for the fact that the manager and other staff members clearly had much more important and HIGHer priorities."
