"Service from the young man at the bar was good he was very friendly and chatty. I was very much looking forward to the meal in the Cristal, given its a 5 star hotel, I think. The service was alright, you could tell they were a bit under pressure. I wouldn’t say the staff were overly friendly but they didn’t have time to have any small talk. It was quite robotic to be honest, it was as if they really didn’t want to talk to you. I had the scallops to start and they were lovely, my friend had the pate/parfait and it was tasteless and we are big fans of pate. Onto the mains my friend had the venison it looked as if it was cooked perfectly however it was served with beets and peanut butter which totally overpowered the lovely venison. It didn’t state peanut butter on the menu so we were quite surprised when it was on the plate and it didn’t go. I had the lamb rack and potato gratin and it was nice. Nothing spectacular. For the dessert we opted for the cheese and you can’t go wrong with that, just not enough crackers to go with but the almonds served with the cheese were very tasty. they don’t seem to have salted butter anymore and the butter they do have comes straight from the fridge so you can’t spread it on the bread or crackers. My friend had the dark choc praline cremeux which was hugely disappointing, seemed as though it had melted on the plate and was just a pile of melted chocolate. I remember the restaurant used to offer a selection of breads and they were warm it was so nice with salted butter but they don’t do that anymore. We had coffee in the hall and the coffee isn’t good! Overall I would say it was mediocre and I expected a lot more. If they worked on the small things it could be much better, spreadable butter, nice warm bread, not so robotic service, tasty mouth watering food, better crackers for the cheese and nicer coffee I’d go back."

"The brown bull is looking great with its new face-lift. It was lovely to return to this fantastic village pub and feel safe and comfortable with all the new measures in place. The pub is looking so fresh and funky! It was so nice to chat to Julie and Laura Rose who were working hard behind the bar to keep the customers served but still make time to chat to people. Well done to all in brown bull who have worked so hard to get back to providing this to service to all. Hope you continue to make the best of things in current situation have lots of customers new and old. Thank you for he great experience.!!"

"Live before place and always used to go. was impressed twice recently and both males less than by service. the first time with two friends to lunch and we came and stood under the sign for about 10 minutes, which said to wait to sit. After we were not recognized, we chose our own table and set ourselves. we had to approach 15 minutes, we were just going. as usual, eating was great, which always seems easy to make for the service and convince us to give them another try. in the next week with another group of friends returned to dinner, I said to them, I wasn't thinking about as service was recently bad, but we couldn't get a reservation elsewhere and the others wanted to go here. When I arrived a few minutes after the rest, my friend said to me, she thinks they should have listened to me when the girl she was sitting was really rude. for the first half of our night was the girl that was with us, quite short, and I would say a bit of a bad attitude, very crisp. once smiled, barely looked up and almost bark asking about orders to us. After they left at a point table, we talked to each other, we should ask to speak to a manager, as you were terrible. whether she had overheard us or just had a heart change, it was like at night and day from then. so smiling and chatting and bending back to give good service. because they mask up and his hard to see faces I was really asking it was another girl who had taken over, but I'm 99 sure it was the same girl just a fresh job. as mentioned above, eating is always done very well to the kitchen staff. it's a shame that the service is just what he was earlier and out discussions with others I am definitiw not the only person who thinks that. lorimers has a real opportunity, as I think that the opposite has no good restaurants, so it's a shame that they let themselves down when I'm so often I would try differently before I book here."

"I have milk and gluten sensitivity. the menu lets them know exactly what is gluten-free and milk-free. the staff is very helpful and eating came after our order. we had chicken cure with sweet and lamb with okra. we had sides of garlic nanan and mushroom fried rice. eating was delicious and very good. if they like to season, they ask. it's not exaggerated."

"I used to order from here often until i bought chicken pakora which was raw. now... i was disgusted and when i phoned them it just got worse. the women working in the shop when i was in, a young lassie, she was so rude...on the phone i was gob smacked. ive not used them since. their kebabs are nice tho also is not a resturant"
