"[Disclaimer: Late post.]

I’ve been eying to visit Mangetsu for quite some time and since some of my friends and I finally found a date where we’re all free, I took it as a reason for us to all go to that Japanese restaurant.

Konnichiwa, Mangetsu!

I was a bit scared that we might not have seats given we're meeting on a Saturday so I made sure to reserve a table for 6 the day before. I was expecting a full house but there were still a few tables left vacant when we arrived.

I love that they welcomed me by first name. It made me feel like a regular customer. ????

It took us quite some time to decide on what to order as there were a lot to choose from. I noticed that they even have a menu for cheese dishes! *Calling all cheese lovers!*

After a few more minutes, we finally ordered the following: Deep-Fried Breaded Prawns (PHP490), Karaage Fried Chicken Thighs (PHP380), Cheese Gyoza (PHP320), Salmon Sashimi (PHP430), California Maki (PHP250/wrap roll... read more"

"Really fresh and good Sashimi. Japanese spirit, really nice and friendly staff, they have Japanese chef also. A bit pricy but you get what you pay for My most favorite Japanese restaurant in Philippines."

"We ordered the Hainanese Chicken Curry Noodles and Hainanese Chicken Platter for 2. The chicken was good but we got a little disappointed with the serving portion. Not really a fan of this chicken and I really can't compare it with the one I tasted in SG. I love the dipping and ginger sauce that comes with it tho. What I loved the most tho was their laksa chicken! The soup was so creamy and yummy! It's not too spicy and you can still adjust it with their available chili. It's advisable that you get the noodles separately on your bowl before you pour the soup from their serving kettle. The noodles have the tendency to get soggy. It was lunchtime so the place is quite packed with office workers. Service is ok so far."

"We are definitely coming for the unlimited Wagyu and other offers. My personal favorite are the prawns and scallops. They serve everything frozen and you have 90 minutes to order and cook everything.

* Per tip. Ask one of the staff to do the cooking and fanning for you (yes, you need to fan the coals to cook faster). But be ready to tip the staff. I give 200 pesos. It's not that bad considering how much time you save and of course, you can really enjoy your food.

And since the staff who serve us don't leave our table (with the exception of our usual order runs) I had the opportunity to ask them about the ingredients. The Wagyu is ground meat, frozen and cut into square shapes (I know, right? But tasty nonetheless). The shrimp and other seafood are also flown in from Japan frozen. I can't distract myself why the prawns taste different than what we usually buy in the market. It's definitely sweeter and tastier without the sauce. My partner told me that in Japan the ... read more "

"Trufa Pasta Bar is now under my list on where to get a good and quick pasta fix. Although the restaurant may seem hidden to most people in Makati, they still manage to gain a lot customers everyday because of its great accessibility for those who work around the area.

The owner's temporary stay in Barcelona, Spain had such a huge impact in her life that she decided to share her love for the city by bringing the experience of Barcelona for everyone here in her restaurant.

Another great thing to know about Trufa Pasta Bar, is that they use the freshest high quality ingredients available making you feel good every time eating their food.

Trufa Pasta Bar lets you build your own pasta, where you choose your Salsa, Pasta and Alegria. It's exciting how you get to create different combinations for your pasta especially if you're an adventurous person who likes to combine strange pairings and discover different flavors and textures. However, if you don't really trust... read more"

"Ambiente: eating here was relaxed thanks to the quiet, Japanese television (2 sets) and the bare seating experience. there were also Japanese customers! the entire industry was almost full, including sitting outside food: california maki was only six pieces, but they were all big, so the number irrelevant. each piece was delicious with creamy mayo and sweet mango. the mango at the end was the best due to the larger size potato yaki was extremely buttery. smell was not so appetizing and regarding textur, I felt that it could have been better grilled overall price is very expensive also for the dinner bentos service: they listen, welcome customers in nihonggo was really nice! I felt like I...read more"

"In all honestly, this is the worst restaurant I've ever been to.

I don't know if their Executive Chef's on vacation for Holy Week (because all the other reviews seem decent), but I cannot stress enough how disappointed we were with the food.

Coming into the restaurant, we had expected a lot. The waiters were professional and seemed to know what they were doing (they served from the left, were friendly, and fast), the live band outdoors set a nice mood, and the complementary bread and butter were hot and fresh.

But the food. Oh goodness the food.
First off, their food ain't cheap. Not at all. With their prices, I think we're allowed to expect greatness, or at the very least something we can stomach.
My mom ordered the sizzling gambas. Right off the bat, I was disappointed with it because it came in a hot plate, but it wasn't sizzling. It was warm and mediocre at best. Surprisingly, that was already the best among all the dishes we would order this night.
My... read more"
