"I had not visited this location of Dewey Destin's restaurants in a couple of years. On this occasion, the tourist traffic was largely absent after Christmas and a restaurant that would often be packed with humanity was largely empty. It added to an overall good experience. The restaurant overlooks the Destin Harbor. There is outdoor dining (on the day we ate there, no one was outside as the wind was brisk) and the decor and harbor view is relaxing and pleasant. The indoor dining area is comfortable, definitely not a formal dining experience, and the service was very good. There is an extensive selection of seafood. I opted for grilled red snapper with potatoes and it was cooked perfectly. There was a light, flavorful seasoning, and the fish was not overcooked so the texture was soft and moist. The fried scallops were cooked perfectly as well. They were a light brown, again not overcooked, and very flavorful. There was a light seasoning which did not hide the flavor of the scallops as can be the case with fried scallops. I opted for the boiled potatoes. No doubt, the french fries are good but available everywhere which is not the case for boiled potatoes. Corn was probably frozen and boiled. Adding melted butter added to the overall dining experience. There is a good wine list with a reasonable selection of wine by the glass. This is in a beach town often flooded with tourists and heavy traffic. Being able to find a time when this popular restaurant is not over flowing is a delightful experience."
