"After shopping in Miraflores we decided to take a short detour on our way home and drive to Barranco and dine over a relaxing lunch. We each ordered something different from their daily Specials! The Specials included soup or salad, entree and a beverage! The portions were so large that two of us took our left-overs home for dinner. The food was very tasty and served very hot!"

"We were looking for a burger place based on TripAdvisor info but found Forneria The friendly and eager staff put a menu in our hand as we were only outside looking inside. The menu said they serve Peru's (in my opinion) best beer ..Sierra Andina which had to be a sign as we had just returned from Huaraz, the hometown of the beer. In we went to order a pizza! Anyway, I chose their Pepe pizza which is simply peperoni, cheese and tomato sauce. We asked the pizza to go as next morning we were leaving Peru and had some packing to do, so eating back at the hotel was the plan. We didn't speak much Spanish but lucky for us the manager was around and helped the staff with us foreigners. We got the order in and took a seat to wait. I was wondering how come they serve Sierra Andina and the manager wanted to know what Huaraz is like, so we had a quick chat. He also mentioned Forneria donates part of their income to a non-profit project which helps poorer communities in Peru. The pizza was amazing! Perfect dough, quality ingredients but not too much stuffing. The few pizzas I had in Huaraz on this trip were both a bit too heavy after too much stuffing is thrown on the delicate dough. Forneria had Sierra Andina's Inti and Huaracina beers available, and I went with my preferred Inti. Perfect dinner for our last night in Peru after few weeks in Huaraz climbing mountains. Go eat good pizza with a group of friends if you're going to Barranco. Now!"
