"I 've heard a lot about Tulip Bistro over the years, but never got a chance to visit till now. What I had heard wasn 't raving reviews about the place, but rather, a sort of 'notoriety ', because the owner(s) of both Tulip Bistro and Tea Room are quite the celebrities on Nigerian social media. Nevertheless, I walked into these 2 establishments with a sort of neutral objectivity, and a more neutral palette. I will start by reviewing Tulip Bistro, then on to Tea Room by Ruky Mama, because Tea Room isn 't on TripAdvisor. TULIP BISTRO: Tulip Bistro is a really nice restaurant. The exterior is decorated with a matted moss of green grass adorning the wall in a lovely decorative fashion. All safety protocols regarding Covid-19 were observed, i.e- temperature checks, basin and tap for hand washing, sanitizers and requiring of masks. The ambiance of Tulip Bistro is comfortable, warm and fuzzy. Pale grey and cream coloured decor gave the restaurant a simple and cozy charm. The chairs/couches were plush and homely. It felt like I was sitting in my own personal living quarters, perhaps a parlour or dining room. The bathroom was a 'cute ' affair; a solo chamber, very small and very clean. The entire place was absolutely adorable so I give Tulip Bistro high marks for 'atmosphere '! The menu booklet was really nice; bright, glossy and clean without any typing errors. I liked the attractive food images on it. Tulip Bistro has Breakfast, Appetizers, Salads, Pasta, Sandwiches, a 'From the Grill ' section, Side Dishes, Fresh Pressed Juices, Beverages and Frozen Mocktails on the menu. I ordered a Trio of Sliders (Chicken Beef) from the Sandwiches section, a Shrimp Scampi from the Pasta section, and a Shirley Temple from the Beverages. I had wanted to go for a Mango Daiquiri- (which the waitress urged me to go for, saying that it was new, and hadn 't even been printed on the menu), or maybe another one of the frozen mocktails, but those weren 't available. She later told me that the Mango Daiquiri was also unavailable. My Shrimp Scampi Pasta was atrocious! This dish was nothing more than a 'Spaghetti Jollof ' parading as a fancy pasta dish. The linguini was tasteless, flat and lifeless. I expected to see more vegetables like mushrooms and capers in it, as opposed to just onions and green peppers. The only good thing about it was that they were generous with the shrimp, and the portion was small. But mehn, not even the loads of shrimp could salvage this pitiful meal! Even a good dash of my personal, flavour-enhancing dry pepper, couldn 't save this monstrosity of a dish. It is an insult to a posh name such a shrimp scampi, so Tulip Bistro seriously need to 'revamp ' this dish. The sliders were also uneventful. I specifically told the waitress I wanted 2 beef, and 1 chicken, yet I got 2 chicken and 1 beef. Though the bread was soft, the beef patty and the chicken pieces were dry and lacked any flavour whatsoever. The Shirley Temple beverage was nothing more than a common Chapman. It looked much less like a regular strawberry slush, and tasted like it as well. All the food served at Tulip Bistro had no garnish or decoration at all, which would have made the dishes look more appealing. For example, it would have been nice to see one of those decorative mini umbrellas on the glass containing my drink, or at least a pretty slice of fruit. Service at Tulip Bistro is super slow! The food took a very long time to be served. The drink came last; just as I was about to finish my food! The lady that served me was JUMOKE. Jumoke was just okay. She wasn 't particularly pleasant and welcoming, but rather curt and slightly polite. Overall, I 'd have to say that I had a very lackluster experience at Tulip Bistro. It 's a gorgeous environment to dine in, yet the dishes, (at least those that I had the misfortune of eating), need serious attention. I hope they will heed my advice and try to improve upon their so-called Shrimp Scampi , Burger Sliders, and Shirley Temple. Though I 'm unable to rate Tulip Bistro and Tea Room seperately, I have to say that TULIP BISTRO GETS A POOR RATING! TEA ROOM BY RUKY MAMA: After having an unpleasant experience at Tulip Bistro next door, I had no doubt in my mind that I 'd have room for dessert, (since I wasn 't satiated whatsoever); and that there was no way on God 's green earth that I would order dessert at Tulip after the disastrous meal I ate there! Walking into Tea Room immediately lifted my spirits. This pint size joint was breathtakingly adorable! Pink, red and peach flowers were liberally used as decorations for both the interior and exterior of Tea Room. The renowed Anadariya Farms for poultry and other farm produce had a quaint little shop to the left of Tea Room by Ruky Mama. What this cutesy, miniature 'tea place ' lacked in size, it made up for in character and attractiveness. It was a very bright and girly environment, with a touch of magical whimsy. It seemed like you had stepped into a fairy tale-esque world, the likes of Narnia or Alice in Wonderland! The place immediately put me in a good mood. They offer afternoon tea, a good selection of simple salads, 'power bowls ', sandwiches, a plethora of teas, beverages, drinks and mocktails. In the show glass, there had Tres Leches, Strawberry Cheese Cake, Coconut Cream Pie, Eclairs, Tiramisu, Chocolate Cream Pie, Custard Cream Pie, Profiteroles, Key Lime Pie, Chocolate Cake and Muffins! Everything looked good, and I was spoilt for choice! I decided to go for the Chocolate Cream Pie. It tasted incredible; so rich, dense and chocolatey! The fact that it was so good made me crave more of the yummy treats on display, yet I had no space! So I ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake, (which came in a cupcake type form) and a Custard Cream Pie for take away. When I ate both of them much later, they also did not disappoint. The cheesecake was mind-blowingly delicious- super creamy, cheesy with a zingy and crunchy biscuit base. The custard cream pie was also insanely good; velvety smooth and oh so succulent! The service at Tea Room was a lot better than Tulip Bistro. The waitresses were a lot more friendly and accommodating. A slight issue I had with my dine in experience at Tea Room was that the saucer my Chocolate Cream Pie was served on had at least a dozen oily fingerprints and grimy smears on it. I didn 't want to embarrass the staff, so I just decided to let it go. But I feel it 's only right to mention this for 'constructive criticism ' purposes, so that moving forward, greater care should be taken when handling the dishes used to serve customers. However, I enjoyed my experience at Tea Room by Ruky Mama, and I look forward to returning again, to try those sumptuous looking, dainty treats and perhaps sampling the full afternoon tea on offer. Everything I ate from this magnificent tea-joint I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a real-sweet-treat for my tastebuds! TEA ROOM By RUKY MAMA GETS AN EXCELLENT RATING!!! So in ending these reviews, I 'd have to say that it was a 'mixed-bag '. Oh how I wish there was a way to seperate the 'assesments ' I ultimately gave Tulip Bistro, and Tea Room by Ruky Mama, because there was a world of difference between the two experiences. However, I have to give a 'cumulative ' rating, which in a weird way hurts and/or helps both establishments. My poor rating of Tulip Bistro will sort of 'taint ' Tea Room, whilst my favorable rating of Tea Room will 'upgrade ' Tulip Bistro! How awkward is that! So to reiterate, Tulip Bistro needs to work on all the issues and problems I highlighted; though I wouldn 't go so far as to say I will never visit the restaurant again. Perhaps other dishes might taste better than the mush I ordered, or service by other staff members besides Jumoke would be better?!?! Maybe "
