"Nice spot opposite the beach and a pleasant courtyard location. We had two crab salads at £20 each. They were average although the salad was fresh and plentiful, there was no dressing so it was pretty boring. The crab was only white meat, which I find bland as you need the brown meat for deep flavour. So, overall underwhelming."

"Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Without a doubt one of the worst dining experiences in a long time. There was no ambience whatsoever, and the service was lacklustre at best. For a restaurant in such a popular place, in a great location, how can they get it...so wrong. The starters were fine, but the main could have been better if they had served a supermarket microwave meal. Bland, tasteless, and clearly reheated from frozen. I had the shellfish chowder. It was gross. No flavour, and frankly an embarrassment. My wife had the fish and chips, and whilst the batter was ok, the fish had no flavour at all. The menu highlighted allotment grown vegetables not sure I have ever seen asparagus and French beans grown in December. We did mention to the one waitress on shift, and were given the fish and chips for free. For a bill of this was questionable. What a shame. The place could be amazing, but clearly standards have slipped. We were not alone, of the other tables tonight, complained. Says it all really. There are lots of better options in Newquay, let's hope someone with real passion takes this on soon."

"I sung here last night and was very impressed. the staff was friendly and attentive, and the free brote at the beginning of the meal were absolutely delicious. my expectations were therefore high and I was not disappointed. the dishes were creatiw, delicious and beautifully presented. I'm looking forward to our next visit."

"Our second visit to the Firehouse this evening, and it was a culinary delight once again! Incredible food, packed with flavour, and all the while sitting amongst the gem that is St Ives. Book a table, you won’t regret it! Thank you again to all the staff for an excellent evening meal"
