"First of, we had the best meal of our Toulouse trip at this friendly and oh so delicious local restaurant. By a mile! Located in a small street right off the river banks, Du Plaisir A La Toque is a small, comfortable restaurant. The decor...although pleasant is not what this place is about. The menu is seasonal, featuring the typical Toulousain fare with some rather original twists. In some places, it can be hit and miss. Not here. Nope. Every dish is thoroughly thought through, cooked and assembled with meticulous precision without any pretentious preciosity. Just the right combinations of texture and taste, that will leave you intrigued and fascinated. The cooked foie gras will blow your mind. And not because it is perfectly cooked and the meat is of obvious high quality. No, what will really leave you gobsmacked in delight is the accompanying sauce. A little piece of liquid heaven. It left me speechless and in love. I was told that the sous-chef used to work as a ‘saucier’ a sauce specialist. And it shows. The stuff could be bottled and sold for gold, it’s that good. We had the fish and duck, both perfectly done. We skipped dessert as we were too full. With wine, our 2-course for 2 came up to €60. A bargain for the best memory of Toulouse now carved in my memory. It’s pointless to write anything further. When in Toulouse, just go there and sample the food. It’s simply perfect."
