"This is our second visit to the Blacklock in Covent Garden. The first time was amazing and we promised we would go back and do it again. So, second time, 8 months later, was it the same as the first time? Sadly it wasn't. Although the food was top notch as always, this time it was the service that let the side down. The guy that showed us to our table, no problem at all. The lady who was our waitress for the evening was a bit of a different story. Firstly, it was clear that she had a lot of tables to look after. She was very busy and looked flustered. She didn't have time to chat and just wanted to serve everyone as quick as she could with as limited contact as she could. She was trying to be efficient for her time and I get it, however she got my partners choice of mustard wrong, which wasn't resolved, and didn't come back to find out if everything was okay. She added a drink to our bill that we didn't order, which I had to talk to another waiter about because she had disappeared. Other tables, with different staff were treated amazingly and you could see them sitting down and getting to know them, etc. The thing is, if this had happened at most other restaurants I would have thought about how much service charge to give, but Blacklock add a compulsory 12.5% to everything......and I mean everything. You want a drink at the bar? The price on the menu doesn't include the 12.5% tip, as an example. Maybe that's me being petty, but if I'm delivered poor service I want to be able to decide how to much to give. Having a compulsory fee on the bill means that the waiters/waitresses don't have to give a good service to get a generous amount. Anyway, overall, the food was amazing, didn't enjoy the service and also what happened to the scratch cards!? At the beginning of the evening my partner and I said we probably wouldn't choose anywhere other than Blacklock. By the end of the evening, we'd decided that maybe trying somewhere else might be a good idea after all."

"2nd time in a week coming here, it was better than the first time. Staff were very polite and friendly the food very nice and plentiful. Recommend coming here with a big group you would be well looked after. Had the all you could eat shrimp after the 3rd round could not fit anymore food in my belly, worth every penny"

"Absolutely delicious lobster roll and burger!! Lovely, succulent lobster, the fries are very moreish and their garlic butter dip is truly to die for. With their great location with plenty of outside seating this is the place to be. They are also happy to let you take away what you can't finish and gave us a nice sturdy cardboard box to put our burger in. Thumbs up all round!"
