"I've been planning to visit Omar's Carriage House for ages now, but I don't get over to Norfolk very often from Newport News. Made a special trip over the water to hit up some of my wishlist locales for my birthday―SO glad we made it to Omar's! Food was fantastic, service was prompt and professional. Shout-out to everyone in the kitchen for a wonderful meal, as well as our awesome server Ben, who was not only well-informed and knowledgeable, but also very welcoming and accommodating. (Plus, the tip-off about the Pagoda Garden was spot-on; not only was it full of Pokémon as promised, but a gorgeous place we had never been to. Thanks to all involved for an excellent experience and great cap to my special day! :D"

"Went out for woman's birthday, her choice. Arrived, found the outdoor area ok and liked the atmosphere inside. A little loud, but this is to be expected for a bar/bistro. Beautiful service and recommendations, and delicious sounding specialties of potato leek soup, and a duck fry chicken with vegetables and maische potatoes w/ chicken sword. Didn't have to wait very long for appetizers or food. I had the Po/leek soup and shrimp Corn Dogs. Unfortunately there were no physical potatoes in the soup, and the waiter explained that it was mixed in the broth that was disappointing. The only physical bits were some shaved cloth, rice and bacon bits. Soup was fine, but would rather have an actual physical potato in it because of its name. Shrimp dogs were pretty good, but not worth the $3. More like $2. The duck fat fried chicken special was OK, but the chicken portion was very large and the duck fat roast was not very good at it. The bone in the bottom of the chicken was also not preferred. Chicken part had to be cut in half and served as two pieces. Veggies with the special were a little mad and we couldn't tell what the brown bits were in there, we thought it was a mushroom or an eggplant. Cornbread with honey butter was very well made and delicious. Potatoes w/ gravy were good and savory. My wife excited the duck-duck, but was disappointed at how dry the duck was, and was also disappointed by her unfortunate vegetables. Beverages were also a bit over price at a $9 beer and $15 for an old-fashioned. A total of 2.5 out of 5. Could come back, but needs thought."
