"We were a little surprised to be placed at a long trestle table with a number of other people but it turned out be be a great idea, everybody chatted a bit even though we were speaking different languages. The gentleman waiter was very helpful...explaining the food. I had the chicken breast in madeira sauce, it was delicious and the red house wine was great."

"Das Gallo Nero gibt es seit Ewigkeiten. Immer preislich im oberen Segment aber qualitativ gut.In der letzten Zeit hat man das Gefühl, es wird sich ausgeruht auf alten Erfolgen und die Gäste, ob von Messe oder Touris kommen sowieso.Also kann man nochmal die Preise erhöhen und auch arrogant bedienen.Die Speisen und Getränke sind im Verhältnis zu teuer. Der Service hat nachgelassen.Bei weitem nicht mehr das was es mal war."

"I enjoyed a wonderful evening at Bruckenkeller in May, 2013 with a large group of university business students and professors. After being intrigued by other Trip Advisor reviews and their own webpage, I contacted Bruckenkeller and was immediately impressed at the ease of communication and planning as Michael and I arranged a set menu and a wonderful evening for my group. Long before I headed to Europe, I felt at ease knowing that this event was arranged. The restaurant, the food, the staff, the entire evening exceeded my expectations. As another reviewer said, it was interesting to be buzzed inside, but as you enter the building, you feel like you are entering history. As students and I came down the stairs to the cellar, we were welcomed by staff (Thank you, Dominic) and served appetizers as we explored nooks and crannies of the old cellar. When we were ready, we were ushered into the Refektorium where we dined at one large table covered in beautiful white linen and illuminated by beautiful tall candelabras. Our meal... Cream soup of lobster with fresh cream and sauted scampi *** Stewed bavarian mountain beef in red wine sauce, served with season mushrooms and truffled mashed potatoes, filed vegetable *** Cocktail of german strawberries from Bockenheim with Grand Mariner Mousseline and vanilla ice cream ...was delicious and the service was impeccable. After the meal I had the privilege of visiting with Michael (my correspondent and the chef!) and his son Dominic (who paid attention to every detail of the evening). Both were so delightful. Dominic gave me a tour of the rest of the restaurant, which I understand is solely used for special events now. There was a beautiful room that would be lovely for a wedding reception or large party, and smaller, more intimate spaces for any sized group. If you are planning a special dinner or event in Frankfurt, I encourage you to consider Bruckenkeller. I hope to return to Frankfurt someday, just to plan an event there again!"
