"This place is worth going to check out. Nice thick cut toast bacon and eggs on point and the staff are so lovely. Even in winter the sun shines in to warm your back while you eat the delicious food and sip on your fav beverage."

"Having gone around inner city suburbs for brunch, I found myself wanting to go somewhere closer to home on my day off last week, and doing some research found out about Jacobs Ladder at Runcorn, which happened to be a quick 15 minutes drive from home. Getting there at 10am on a Thursday morning, I was surprised at the fact that it was more than half full. Being situated in a shopping strip along Compton road, parking was relatively easy, which already impressed me as being more convenient than having to struggle every Saturday at New Farm or at Bulimba."

"After the brekkie at the Arlette’s Kitchen, I felt like to have a take away coffee for the journey back home. First one came up to my mind was the new listing of the Espresso Monk down the road so gave it a go. Unfortunately, it did not open on Sunday (a mistake from the Zomato site again! , then I search a replacement around the area. It showed that this renowned eatery was the nearest. Remembered I had a good experience on its coffee and a bad experience to have the first almond croissant in my life that was served cold. However, it has been three years and I only aimed to have a take away coffee so drove to get one.<br/>Upon arrival, parking area around was always packed. Fortunately, I got an on-road parking space next street opposite to the park so walked down to join the queue outside the cafe for take-away coffee.<br/>I purposefully went in and browsed around. There was nearly full house inside. That was what had happened in my last visit. The difference was the coffee that it served was so gooooood!<br/>It made my day!<br/>Previous rating: Oct 2017 3.5/5"

"Cute little cafe tucked away in a quiet backstreet. Quite busy this morning but we barely waited 5 minutes for our coffee. Quick and efficient with delicious little sweets and savouries in the cabinet. Love love love the travelling cup idea! Will definitely be going back before our trip to Fiji to buy a coffee and take our cup on holiday with us. A half strength zymil mocha for me and chocolate nutella treat. It was a cross between a macaroon and brownie and it was heavenly! Crisp texture on the outside and chewy and gorgeous on the inside.<br/ <br/ Love the vibe almost like a travellers domain where everyone that comes in has a story. Would love to try the brekky here soon but if you want a delicious coffee and quick snack served by funny and friendly staff, try here."

"After I read the reviews of so many top reviewers about this café, I bookmarked to have an exploration 6 months ago. Grab the time to have a brekkie this morning. It was not quite busy when I walked in the café. Barista was busy at preparing orders and he seemed to know what he was doing with professional manner. Love to see all the food displayed in the cabinet that kick-started my appetite immediately. Ordered my flat white and the Hollandaise egg with Salmon. Coffee came with light aroma and the barista did a good job to reflect the taste of Merlo. Just a subjective feedback was the strength was not up to my expectation. Next time, I must order another shot (it is free to add shot) to make it perfect to my palate. The savoury dish came the next and the presentation looked great. Eggs were done perfectly with running egg yolk when my knife pierce through the egg white. Smoked salmon was nice and fresh. I think I need to re-visit to try out the test-tube idea of coffee that they serve, they look great and inventive."

"Today I was at James st and my partner said she wanted a coffee and as we were just in front of this store we decided to go for it. <br/ <br/ We had two dirty chai and a chocolate cannoli. <br/ <br/ The cannoli had a nice flavour to it, was probably one of the best I have tried here in Brisbane but the pastry was soggy which I had already imagined when ordering but I went against the odds. It had a nice chocolate flavour was not too sweet and had some bitterness to it. I would rate it a 3.5 out of 5.<br/ <br/ The dirty chai was creamy and had a nice coffee flavour to it but wasn't spicy enough for me, there are better options around for sure. I would rate it also a 3.5 out of 5.<br/ <br/ Overall it was average, didn't leave me with good nor bad impressions."
