"Whether it is to get something for a picnic in the Carlton Gardens or to dine in on good food made to order, I choose the Garden View Cafe. Today was very hot, so I chose to enjoy the air conditioning here. Most people were...buying take aways, but I put my order in and found a table inside out of the heat. There were quite a few spare. I chose a vegetable pastie and added salad to this. My salad was beetroot, spinach leaves, fetta and walnut. It was cool and refreshing. My pastie was inexpensive and of a good size, made in a light curry style. All very filling, delicious, and inexpensive."

"I would often pass this place for lunch, but decided to go. I initially did not want to pay $19.50 for a smashed Avo, but then it noticed mushroom and grilled tomatoes with the price quite standard. The dish had its good and bad points: the toast was just a bit on the soggy side and the Avo seemed somehow mixed with it to be almost like a substance. I also do not understand the uncommon presentation style of dumping a ton of bean sprouts above. After saying that the sides were not token vegan afterthoughts, with the decent size Portobello mushroom is a highlight. Ultimately, although I'm not sure I'm a point of choice of the record again. The staff was super friendly and attentive, and I enjoyed relaxing here with a coffee."

"On researching this cafe, the reviews were great and the food looked delicious. We therefore decided to go here for breakfast. However, on the two occassions we have turned up for breakfast they have not been open on time (7:30am) - no lights and no sign of life. Please change opening hours if you are not open by the specified time. Very disappointed."

"We came here during the lockdown on recommendation of a friend, who in line with my view said they normally wouldn’t bother to buy toasties from a cafe. The staff kindly agreed to prepare our sandwiches on a board so we could put them in our own containers for takeaway. Vegan options were around half the menu. Staff told us one each was enough, but with past experience of being left hungry after a single sandwich, we ordered three between two of us. The chicken toastie was good and very substantial, the hash brown one nice and a bit lighter, and the smashed avocado one delicious and decadent with all its fillings. I needn’t have worried about it not being enough. I came back the next day and got just one jackfruit toastie, a bit spicy with its sriracha. Decent sandwiches, reasonably priced."
