"What a find! Traveling through Mount Vernon and looking for a relaxing place with good wine, ambience and good food! Our server Kyle was friendly and attentive and very pleasant conversation with how we sat at the bar. The owner, Jeff, who is also the cook, was a pleasure to meet! In any case, the stop is worth when you travel through Illinois!"

"What a GREAT place!! Mom and pop ran business, they are so sweet. We loved the patty melt and the Turkey Ruben. The homemade soup of the day was a shrimp, sausage potato, so so good. They have this snow cone with so many flavors, the ice melts in your mouth you can add ice cream for an extra treat. Next time when we are in the area we will definitely return."

"Was looking for food while staying at the family cabin and The BLG appeared as the closest location for food. The reviews looked great so we headed over. For what seems like a small shop, it is very quaint and offers many items for sale from your typical gad station snacks like soft drinks and candy, to a full menu of hot food to beer and liquor. We got 2 orders of the chicken strips and fries and 1 order of the mac and cheese bites. 15 minutes later we had fantastic hot food. The mac and cheese bites were great and there had to have been a pound worth of fries and chicken apiece. If you find yourself in the Big Lake area this is sure to satisfy your cravings!"

"Unfortunately this place is going out of business so they are letting their inventory dwindle down. They did still have a pretty good selection of meats and cheeses. But the best was they had my favorite key lime yogurt pretzels. Yummy!"

"Best southern food in Westchester. We came all the way from NYC and my partner was here from Chicago and we both loved it. Nice staff and the most sweetest owner you can meet. Funny they ran out of cornbread (it is soooo good) and they turned around and made more and made sure we got it fresh and gave us more since it was not done when we made this order. It was like eating with your favorite grandmother."
