"It's not great food it's well below average, people stating that it's amazing here must not have experienced great sushi before. Had the Takoyaki that were heavy barely any seafood inside and therefore taste was lacking. No onion flakes, the super sweet sauces provided...the only flavour for this dish (and they weren't great either). Calamari although a larger portion than I expected the batter was heavy and didn't allow for any flavour except for oil. Cat's Eye Roll although eye catching and promising also disappointed. The hot sauce was the dominant flavour and there was no flavour provided from the fish."

"We loved it! Food was great, people were friendly and patient might I add, I didn't know the dishes, and one of the waiters answered all of our numerous questions ? Will definitely come back again!"

"Not the best looking from the outside, but the employees were pleasant inside. The menu was good with many selections for both sushi lovers and those who tend to stay away from raw fish. As for me, the sashimi was good and my colleague enjoyed his Pad Thai. Overall the experience was positive and I would return again."

"We are frequent AYCE people and have tried pretty much every option in YYC and surrounding areas that are available. Oishii is pretty darn fantastic - the food quality, especially for hot food items, is definitely above the other restaurants and they have some neat items which are not available elsewhere. Sushi, Sashimi were generally of good quality. Decor of restaurant is quite nice - upscale and classier compared to the other joints. Price is on par with other places - deluxe menu price is expensive for the extra items but worth a try. We had the deluxe menu - some notable items to try:1. Creamy Yaki Udon 2. Toro Sashimi3. Oysters (we had both raw and baked, baked was better but they have a limit)4. Any soup udon - Tonkatsu was fabulous!5. Sunomono6. Teriyaki Beef7. Spicy Korean Salmon Sashimi8. Beef Tataki Some items that are not impressive/we didn't like:1. Crab Leg - dry and somewhat bland (deluxe menu, so felt kind of cheated since we paid extra for this)2. Lamb skewer - dry - odd tasting seasoning (deluxe menu as above)My only complaint is some of the items have limits on how many you can order. Really wanted more of them!"

"Ordered sushi and rolls. Red tuna sushi was bland and tasteless. Rice was falling apart when I was picking up the sushi off the plate. Sushi didn't taste fresh. Negi toro roll tasted like chewed up cat food. Service is friendly but won't be coming back. Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3"

"Living on the South end of the city, I was never close to any good places for a good casual sushi experience. Recently, I have been delightfully surprised by the number of places that are starting to pop up out here. Places like Yokozuna in Okotoks and Southland Crossing as well as the Chinook location of Globefish have been welcome additions to the otherwise subpar choices that are available south of Glenmore Trail. As the sushi landscape is evolving, so is the quality of the menu items. It is important to note that a sushi bar that satisfies the casual diner doesn't necessarily have to have a veritable ocean of fresh seafood selections available at any given time, or an elaborate presentation, using giant mounds of crushed ice and weathered driftwood to make a statement. Really, all you need is a few choice fish of the freshest quality, sensible pricing and a pleasant customer experience to tie it all together and Yume Sushi does all that. The dining room is spacious and colourful, adorned with traditional Japanese art and dolls that line the shelves throughout the space. It is contemporary, yet inviting enough to want to sit at the bar. Service is very casual, using the menu pencil system to make your choices (the colour menu has photos for those who may be newer to sushi dining). The menu includes a good selection of sushi and sashimi in addition to the ever-popular plethora of rolls, hot food items and salads. Also available are the bento lunch specials and love boats you see everywhere. The quality and freshness of the fish is good, the sushi is well made with a fair balance of fish to rice. Sashimi slices are slightly thinner than the norm, but are not overly skimpy. The tempura is golden, crispy and plentiful. The portion size of the large assorted is very generous with large pieces of fresh vegetables and plump shrimp. With a good number of sushi choices for $1, you really can't go wrong at Yume. It's a great place to stop for a nice, casual dinner or lunch for a reasonable price."
