"Ambiance: 5 stars Food: 3 stars Call me ig’nant, but I had never heard of Harris’ prior to one of my SF escapades. Based on the 370+ ratings I see here, I’m surprised to see that Harris’ really is a big deal – especially because the grub wasn’t all that :-P I got the $75 Kobe Ribeye my FAVE cut) along with crab cakes $11.50) and onion soup $7.50). My friend got the steamed whole Maine Lobster market price) and onion rings. Now on with the reviews! I do NOT exaggerate when I say that I’ve had better steaks at the Sizzler than the crap that was sitting before me. Yes, the Kobe steak was really THAT BAD – totally tough and cheap tasting. I couldn’t believe it. The crab cakes were NASTY – they stank like old mackerel’s armpit if they had armpits) and tasted like old canned tuna. The onion soup was divine, but I didn’t come here to enjoy an $8 soup! Come on, people! It would’ve been a sad, sad night at Harris’ had the drinks been disastrous. Good martinis and great selection of wines to pair with your crap. I mean, food. BAH!"

"We had a reservation and the host was very kind and friendly. They escorted us to our table right away. We started we the hot edamame, really nice and flavored. Just a little bit spicy. Then we had the 6 pice niguiri which came with eel, amber jack, hamachi, salmon and tuna all of them really buttery and fresh as expected! We also had a ken’s roll and a crispy spicy roll. The ken was really good , the only thing to get better it could have more pine nuts one per piece) The crispy spicy was really amazing! It’s a must try! All these without any alcohol drink was 120$ including tip"

"TLDR: For the same price, I’d recommend Quince or Saison. Food was great, albeit in my opinion with a little less character than the “art gallery rustic farm table” of Saison. Service was good, but pales in comparison with the nearby truly phenomenal service of Quince (which has a modern European elegance). Was still a wonderful experience, but at this level I think there’s a lot that’s just personal preference. Great seafood dishes, that was a highlight. I will say that I think the music choice was in poor taste. With this kind of ambience you’d expect something more subdued and sophisticated (I was hearing classic rock)."
