"Excellent 5 course tasting menu. I had the wine pairing, my fiancee ' did not, as 5 glasses of wine is far too much for her petite frame. The meal started with two delicious amuse-bouche; caviar and sea urchin and a lovely ham and cheese cake ....The first course was the most delicious foie gras dish I 've ever had. Words cannot describe. We then moved on to lobster, salmon, a lovely beef dish and finished with what was described as a de-constructed carrot cake that was out of this world delicious. The wine pairings all matched perfectly. This would have been a 5 star review if not for the table we were given. We 's chosen to try La Chronique on this our annual visit to Montreal, based on its perpetual spot on Eater Montreal 's Essential 38 restaurants. Eater had never let us down before, as we have eaten at probably 50% of the restaurants on the list in 5 previous annual visits and have not been disappointed. Having reserved a table 3 weeks prior, we were running late on the night of our reservation so we called ahead to confirm that we were indeed on our way. We arrived 10 minutes late, and while I could see open tables else where on the first level I could not see the other levels), we were sat by our server not a host) at a table directly in front of the kitchen door. Not being people who complain, we quickly sat down and made nothing of it. In retrospect however, it would have been nice to have received a table in a quieter section of the dining room and not in front of the busy kitchen door, considering that we were shelling out $400 for a two person dinner $320 with taxes and tip, plus I tacked on another $80 tip)."

"I love it! 3 of us tried almost all tapas, and also the shells. Everything was amazing. Our favorites were cattle carpaccio, salmon star, shrimp tacos and chicken wings. Great service also you can say that they strive to ensure that you are happy."
