"I acknowledge first off that I am torn about this review. Clearly, there was something wrong at the restaurant last night. But our meal was a disaster and it ruined our plans for the evening. As vegans, we appreciate a restaurant like this and have...eaten at the one in Cambridge, which was superb. This is a chain or franchise, so menus are similar. As another reviewer also observed, we were not attended to quickly. There was only one other couple already eating when we got there, but it took forever for the sole waitperson to come to set us up at our table. There were of us and we had phoned ahead! They know we were coming. We ordered from the plentiful and wonderful menu and the appetizers came out in not-bad time. They were pretty good. We ordered our main dishes and here is where it all fell apart. After a long while (too long), the first dish came out. He had finished before the next one came out. (We insisted that he not wait; it was congealing.. The next meal came out, with a quiet sorry from the young server. Another long wait, Time was passing. Two more came out. After another gap, the last meal (mine) came out. The irony is that the last three meals were all the same! They were the combination plate which is like a bento box meal. Some of the pre-prepared pieces, like the soy nuggets, had obviously been sitting for a while as they were almost cold. Salad section was very ordinary, nothing special. The chicken dish was delicious, but by this time we had been there for hours and the charm had worn off. We had started with water and only once did someone come to refill our glasses. When the main dishes trickled out, there was no replenishment of the little sauce dishes that should have accompanied them. No one came to ask if everything was ok. (It wasn't We had to leave before we could eat the dessert that was included in the combination meal. It was only a half slice of banana bread (although baked fresh) but no big deal. With tea. We had ordered jasmine tea with our meal...delicious but a very small pot with even tinier glasses, smaller than shot glasses, I'm sure. When we were leaving, unhappily and much later than we intended to, another customer said they were having staffing problems. Clearly this was so. But I heard a lot of leisurely chatting coming from the kitchen in another language so could not understand and through an open door saw a man standing there, obviously not a staff person. No explanations were given to us for the terrible delay in bringing our food. The old house that the restaurant is located in, although charming, is not well set up in the kitchen area. Small, cramped, awkward. The bathrooms are uncomfortably close to the table we were seated at. Parking is good, off-street and ample, beside the house. All in all, not a good experience for us. I certainly won't go back, especially knowing that a much better dining experience awaits in Cambridge."
