"My wife and I went to Rickey 's on the evening of Feb 17th 2023. We were in Novato for a Valentines weekend because my wife had to work on Valentines. We chose Rickeys because it seemed nice and it was close to where we were staying. I don 't usually write reviews unless something is exceedingly bad, or good. Well, this one was all bad on our server. We came in for dinner, and after a brief wait were seated. My wife ordered wine, and as I don 't drink alcohol, I just asked for water. My wife got her wine but the water never came. After many times trying to get our servers attention as she went by, I finally asked her again for water. She said sure. We ordered the grilled brussel sprouts, and our dinners. I ordered the Salmon, wife ordered the steak. Brussels came out after a while, and were very good. Still no water. Eventually another worker came out with a tray and passed out waters to every table. Cool. Someone else from the kitchen brought out our dinners. They we 're pretty good. At $30 per plate it would have been nice if they came with soup or salad, or even a small bread basket, but nope. Our server asked my wife if she wanted another glass of wine, and my wife said yes. We eat our whole dinner, no wine came, but we can see our server serving other drinks, putting in orders, and talking to other customers. She would walk right by our table and not even glance over. Well, our dinner was almost done, and I finally again got our servers attention and told her to just forget the wine. She said Oh sorry, are you sure ? We said yes. She said Are you sure? It 's on the house . My wife said, On the house? Well OK then . So off our server goes, and we wait. I jokingly said to her, watch her forget this too . Well, we wait, and wait, all while watching our server tending to things other than doing what she said she was going to do make up for forgetting us in the first place. Unbelievable. I finally had to flag her down and ask for our check. No mention of the wine we that never got. I 'm still irritated with myself for leaving a $6 tip. After thinking about all of this afterwards, there should have been no tip. I mean seriously, all she did was take our order, bring us one glass of wine, and basically ignore us the rest of the time. Our server was an older lady, I didn 't get her name, but unfortunately she was the standout weak link of the evening. I 've worked for decades in foodservice and will go above and beyond to give foodservice workers the benefit of the doubt, but this was just beyond ridiculous."

"I went for lunch with a friend and it was very nice. Food was pretty good! I got the brunch burger and she got beet salad and we both loved our meals. The staff were very nice and seemed to have a great energy! I recommend them to all my friends in Novato."

"Wow, we came in and sat right away. The food here is exceptional and you should find out for yourself! Had a bbq beef - it was tender and tasteful along with a Papaya salad had a great taste. We also had lambery, which a little spicy, but much to my desires and more on the milder side of the spicy. Good job I'm back! "This place is a gem in Marin County! From their chips and salsa, to their carne asada tacos, their delicious ceviche the best around here to their burritos and camarones a la diabla! "Go here if you want a case study for your servsafe exam. I've been in business for over 20 years. My girlfriend got sick with the runs and cramps and doesn't know why. She eats here occasionally at noon and brought me there to check it. I ordered a bean and rice burrito with red sauce and mild salsa, just keep it. I rose to the slightly chaotic, lunch rushed salsa bar and noticed that all salsas were either very hot or super hot, a larger portion had much too many Serrano paprika. When I asked for something milder, the waitress showed on a thin tomato something with jalapeno slices in it! Don't! I then made eye contact with the cook who saw how I asked for options and asked about something Pica de gallo, it was rushed to me. My friend says she never eats salsa because it's too hot, I agree. It is much hotter than San Joses on Fourth in San Rafael because they use more Serrano that corresponds to more Scovilles. Then I asked the waitress if they made salsa so hot because they don't want people to eat a lot of it. She smiled, shook her head up and down and said, "Yes." When I got my burrito, the red sauce on top was hot tomato soup, 100%, tomato soup! No spices, nada. My rice wasn't even seasoned, only white rice, nada. Where did the mild salsa come for my Burrito if he had no one? Later I watched the owner or manager, she would not say wipe a stack of wet bowls for salsa and chips with a blue cloth and this is a violation of the health code. The shells are to be ventilated dry and not stacked wet, especially wood bowls even more because of their porosity and their ability to store the cause of a food-related disease. I observed that she put the towel on the countertop and then wipe the wet, stacked trays several times. You may cross everything with the blue cloth. I watched the waitress wipe several tables with another anger, without disinfecting the table tops, and then she put this dirty anger back on the same counter where the bowls were wiped before, another clear violation of the health code. All towels, if not in use, should not be on the counter. And they should use a chemical sanitizer to clean every table top. The corners of the floors show dirt build-up without coving. When I approached the manager, I asked her if she had a servsafe certification and she said yes, but could not produce her card. When I asked her about the Salsa problem, she said that they didn't understand me when I asked clearly and they clearly answered my question "No". At least the cook understood me. When I pointed out the violations she didn't say, a word or even repentance, I told her that my girlfriend had been sick lately. She said nothing. Then I told her about the waiter's confession about the hot salsa and she immediately asked who it was. Please think before you dare. Buyer Careful."
