"We had such high hopes after reading the reviews, expecting a quaint Italian restaurant with homely food.Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. Upon entering the restaurant, service was sorely lacking. We thought it was fine since it was quite busy and everyone seemed occupied.The environment was cramped and loud. The server, one in particular seemed to hold a personal grudge against the cutlery, constant and unnecessary clanging and dropping dishes in collection trays. Conversation was difficult, definitely not a great place for relaxing.The food is hilariously bad. Pasta was over cooked and under seasoned. Sauces were bland and seemed to have come from a can. The most flavourful thing in my linguine granchio, which came with lump crab, was the sun dried tomatoes. Prices were also on the high side for the quality.Extremely disappointed and really wished we had a better experience."

"Aside from some goodies I received from a Yelp offer, I visited recently and got a chicken salad pretzel sandwich, some tuna macaroni salad and some cinnamon sugar pretzels with icing dip. Everything I had was delicious and reasonably priced. I'd love to try other things, like the parmesan bacon pretzel or a pretzel sub. My total ended up being $20 and some change and when she saw I had no coins on me, the cashier told me not to worry about the extra few cents and I really appreciated that. I love how old school this place is, but I do wish they accepted credit card payments."

"That's a great place. The staff is great (from direction Hailey) and the drinks are also great. The prices for drinks are not crazy, which is nice, especially when you get a shot of pitcher. The atmosphere is so great. We love Hems!"

"This place is awesome. Not only is the food good...but the owners are amazing. They had hot and fresh orders that where placed just before close and no one came to get them. So what did they do...they donated them to the super hero nurses at the Oakland Veterans Hospital. Hot and fresh they greatly appreciated. You will be my goto place from now on. Thank you"

I and my bestfriend pop to hang in late night and enjoy good eating. the salted caramel latte is brilliant. they had new fried ravioli served with alfredo and marinara sauce with was great. the grilled stickies ala mode never disappointing. we always have a wonderful server. they have great staff at this place."
