"A group of family from many areas of the country convened at Belaggio. Some of the group had enjoyed dinner there in the past and recommended it. it is conveniently located and large enough to accomodate a group. We were very disappointed. Good Italian food has tasty sauces over pasta cooked al dente and arrives at the table hot. None of those things happened on this ocassion. My food was served luke warm, even my veal cutlet. The spaghetti which accompanied it was cooked to a soggy mass and had a tepid, bland Bolognese sauce on it. Several other people in the group were less than happy with the temperature of their meals or the mushiness of the pasta. The mussels which some ordered and the shrimp dish seemed hot and perfectly cooked. We'd been served some bruschetta which looked wonderful but seemed to have no seasoning in it so was tasteless. The bread/rolls were delicious. Our waiter was efficient and pleasant - he got both the meals and the bills right the first time and we appreciated that. Several of us ordered glasses of house wine but the glass of red I had was both weak and bitter tasting. At the end of the meal bowls of nuts were served which seemed to be a nice touch until people broke them open to find some were very stale - the almonds and walnuts were fine but others tasted bad. It was a disapponting meal and could so easily have been a really good meal with a little more attention to timing."

"F your investing money on marketing your business, such as using a popular coupon service, then I would expect the business to go the extra mile to make themselves look great. After all I don't think you make your money from those patrons eating with a coupon. You make money by the repeat business and word of mouth a happy client will give you.So let's go down the list of items promoted on the coupon and let's see how Basso Restaurant did for my specific case.Valet parking was offered however non was available.Verdict: FailAppetizer - we all had CalamaresVerdict: GreatMeal - We had Veal Milanese which I expected to be a breaded veal cutlet dish. I'm not certain that the meat was actually breaded but it was definitely fried is something. We also had Veal Marsala but we found the meat to be a little tough. I'll give it a pass as it was still edible.Verdict: PassWine - A decent bottle was offered.Verdict: GreatDessert - The desert portion of the coupon had a value of $7. We were informed that all that was remaining was ice cream. We passed on the $7 two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Verdict: FailRestaurant ambiance - When we were seated at our table the table beside us had about 10 drunken customers being annoying. However, I can't blame the restaurant for that. The restaurant itself appeared very clean and had a relaxing ambiance. It's probably even nicer during the summer time.Verdict: GreatService - We were serviced by a waiter who had just started working that day. He was extremely nice and did his best to provide us a good service. However, he was not able to answer some questions regarding the menu.Verdict: GoodThe only thing about the service is that when we finished the meal we waited for a good 20 minutes before we were informed that the computers were not working and that we had to go to the back to pay our bill. Once in the back we were shown the bill on the computer. The totals the restaurant came up with did not match up with the coupons. After a while of back and forth discussion the person serving us gave in and told us to pay what we thought we should pay. So we calculated the total meal cost (based on the coupon,) subtracted the coupon value, included the tax and tipped on the full amount. To easy.My overall rating is Good with caveats. I think this restaurant has much potential. It's located in one of the busiest streets in Montreal. It's almost makes your head spin for how busy that area is. The restaurant just needs to place more effort in taking care of the customer."

"Would give it a zero if there would be an option. The person in the kitchen is surely no Italian as the food was nothing like its advertised. The whole experience there was just awful. We went for a company dinner, were presented with the Table D'Hote menu only which was way overpriced for what we got. $50 Seafood linguini where there was nothing else on the plate than old pre cooked pasta and four crab meat sticks that certainly were not even real crab meat. Nothing else!!! Also they had the windows open and no AC on or it didnt work it was so hot and humid in that place. Just terrible. Will certainly not return."
