"There is nothing I can say to recommend this pub. As a group of four we decided to try the Vic Tav for a quick lunch. The guy behind the bar was shambolic, to say the least. He refused to accept our Entertainment Book voucher and then struggled to understand our very simple food orders - perhaps writing them down would have helped. One of our group advised him that she needed to be back at work by 1.45pm and he assured us that all would be fine. We placed our orders at 1.10pm and as a gesture of goodwill (for not accepting the EB voucher) he told us that our soft drink orders were on the house. That would have been ok, except for the fact that the soda water was completely flat.We waited for 25 minutes, and when no meals were forthcoming, the person who had to leave early asked for hers to be put into a takeaway container. After another 10 minutes she gave up and when, at 1.55pm the food arrived with completely the wrong orders, we gave up and asked for our money to be refunded - which it was, without question.There appeared to be only one person running the entire place and we noticed a couple of groups of people walk out after waiting too long for service.We will never consider going back to this place."

"Lovely outlook and comfy chairs. Good drink service and tables clean Commenced with scallops in a nice sauce but needed to be balanced salt sugar. Oysters were beautiful big plump quality, however the topping was very sharp acidic. Raw king fish was beautiful all of...it. The chicken liver parfait is the nicest I've ever had. The crisp seeded lavish typebread is delicious. Served with prunes but again a sharp acidic juice needed balancing. Pork belly plentiful but poorly cooked dry base and soft crackling. Terrible coleslaw which is actually a nasty flavored vinegar?? Fish well cooked plentiful. Big meaty mushrooms didn't seem to match the delicate fish. Dessert chocolate mousse cream on chocolate crumb with raspberries was very nice. The sour dough bread is served with a type of butter whip...yuk it's like cheap margarine. I suggest to order off the menu and not go for the chef choices."

"Arrived in Hobart today, picked up our car & headed into the city. After checking out a few places to eat we settled on Pearl & Co at Victoria Dock. Fish & Chips plus Fisherman's Basket & a combo salad of choice. You can get a combo of 2 or 3 salads. Salads very tasty & fresh.Fisherman's Basket had generous servings & the fish & chips were fresh. Food was well cooked, service friendly, Staff helpful & atmosphere buzzy. Food arrived very quickly. There was a cheerful combination of locals & tourists in the restaurant which is set up as a very open plan dining space. There's a cracking view of the water & all the busyness surrounding it from almost any table."

"Great value for money in an historic building directly across from the port. You are steps away from the Salamanca Square, piers and great restaurants. Our C$360 bill for 2 nights included parking and a full on breakfast for 2 people for two days. The rooms are clean and a good size. Easy access to the highway and sites around Hobart. In terms of accessibility, you need to request upon booking a room on the first or second floor given there are a lot of steps to the rooms and the third floor is only accessible via stairs."
