"We stumbled across N.10 due to it being right next door to our hotel on our return from the opera. It hadn’t been there 3 weeks earlier so we hadn’t known it existed. We later discovered it had only opened 10 days prior to our first visit. It was 11.30pm and, unfortunately, the kitchen had just closed. We sat and had a beer each and some Prosecco and savoured the atmosphere. The service was excellent. We finally left at 2.30am. Next day, we booked for dinner and were greeted by staff who recognised us from the night before. This visit, we had all the time in the world to experience the ambience. Starting at the bar where we enjoyed two brilliant martini cocktails, we moved to the stools overlooking the open kitchen. What a show that turned out to be. The efficiency of the staff was a joy to behold and, when our food had arrived, the head chef was there to check if we were enjoying ourselves without intruding. The service by the waiters was great: a small stool for my wife’s handbag, for instance, was a thoughtful addition. Then there was the food. It was superb. We started with an amuse bouche, had the pigeon and steak as a main and couldn’t fit in dessert. All accompanied by a delicious bottle of red wine. But it wasn’t over! They then gave us a tasting plate of three of their desserts 2 portions each. Brilliant. The pigeon and the steak were so tender and perfectly cooked, I can’t describe them well enough. As I said earlier: superb. The warm potato salad ‘Russo’ was interesting delicious but surprising in its format. We then retreated back to the bar. We wanted to try their pizzas so returned the next night, sat at the bar, drank cocktails and talked to Christian as he worked and ended up just having a cheese filled focaccia it was delicious. The atmosphere is terrific, the service friendly, efficient and special, the food and drink absolutely fabulous. The best place to be in Milan."
