"We visited this restaurant a few years ago and had an excellent meal, but based on last night the place has really gone downhill. We ordered 5 dishes; some were alright and others really substandard. The ceviche was good, but not exceptional, and the pork taco was reasonable. The fish taco was poor - my wife said it looked like stir fried tinned tuna. Service was excellent; too bad the food just didn't merit it."

"The Sylvia Hotel and Restaurant is one of my fav places in Vancouver.I hosted a close friend to celebrate her birthday. We had a nice bottle of wine. The shrimp cocktail was excellent. My friend loved her salmon and my burger and fries were tasty. We shared a very delicious lemon tart for dessert.The server was very friendly and provided excellent service and all the staff were very hospitable.When you spend time in the room, you will be among other folks who you can tell love being there...it is a very special place to be and the staff are wonderful.I highly recommend this place to dine, drink and enjoy the sunset overlooking English Bay."

"Another great spot for sharing food. I love the atmosphere! It has a farmhouse hipster vibe. They have house-crafted bottled cocktails. I had the Empress gin and tonic. We shared most of the items on the menu. There was a heavy vegetarian influence. The menu is small. We tried everything I was intrigued by and find no reason to go back. So, hopefully they change the menu regularly or you may only need to go once for the experience."

"One of my new favorite brunch spots in Yaletown. Sneaky, hole in the wall. The eggs Benny were cooked for perfection. Excellent service, friendly staff and amazing coffee. The food took some time, but it was worth waiting. Anyway, you want to come back for dinner."
