"We went to Aladdin 's in late January on the advice of a friend who said it was 'fantastic! ' even though it was expensive. Unfortunately, we didn 't have the same experience. Things started out promising when the calamari appetizer really was 'fantastic! ' Lightly fried, crispy, good aioli, it was everything it should be and we ate it all. However both of our main dishes disappointed Big Time. The lamb kebab was dry and spiced incorrectly and the accompanying vegetables bland and boring. The aubergine eggplant main dish was also spiced inappropriately. At first, I couldn 't figure out what it was that was so off putting, because I 'm just someone who eats, not someone who cooks. It was only later I realized the eggplant must have been marinated in some sort of lemon/vinegar concoction that left a very tart aftertaste which didn 't go at all with the rosemary and oregano ? with which it was liberally doused. When, at long last, the waiter noticed I had only eaten two bites, he summoned the manager. I told the manager it didn 't taste good. She disappeared and then came back to explicitly say the cook said it was prepared fine . Did not offer to take it off the bill although it was uneaten and we had brought it to their attention and we were polite about it . After that, we paid and left. Okay, I understand the cook is defensive, you 're not going to take it off the bill, the dish is usually prepared the same way, so I am writing a review to warn others not to order it, and that if you find anything you don 't like management won 't offer any resolution. Also, the mosquitoes were vicious. We sprayed ourselves with repellent before we arrived, then applied the cream they placed on each table, and we still were bitten multiple times."
