"This place was utterly, utterly awful. They had one waiter and two busboys for a whole dining room. We were there while the waiter was trying to serve a and an After taking our order the waiter couldn't be bothered to return once to see how we were doingwhich is good for him since the food was horrible. They used cheap rice which they soaked for a long time to make it fullerit tasted like water. Speaking of water we had to ask several times to get some. The tahdig appetizer crispy rice with a meat stew on top was soggy and toughclearly very old. Bizarrely, the zereshk polo was overfull with zereshk which can be quite costly and usually restaurants chintz on them, so it was odd that they were so generous. The beef filet kebab was actually skirt steak and pretty tough. You CAN get better food and treatment if you grease the wait staff's palms. The next table got a fresh hot, Persian bread right out of the tandoorwhich is not on the menuand I saw the customer slip the waiter a tip: Quality treatment explained. We had to get up and get our own takeaway containers although, honestly, we aren't even sure why we took the leftovers but the neighbor has dogs who might like them. I am a person of Persian descent visiting the Bay Area. I was SO excited to try this place and SO SO disappointed and embarrassed that I dragged my friends there for an awful meal, horrible service, and apathetic staff. Save your self and bypass Shalizaar. Persian hospitality is legendary but you won't find it here"
