"I've eaten here a number of times. It's a nice spot in a large courtyard, surrounded by other cafes. Recently i had the Red Hot Chilli pepper burger (don't worry it's not spicy) and it was delicious. One of my favourite places in chartes to...just sit, have a beer and some lunch."

"We stopped into Le Cristal on an extremely hot day in July, looking for a place to have a quick lunch as we'd had a very early start that day - without any time for breakfast. We both had the set three course lunch and it was exactly what we wanted - authentic, simple, quick and tasty. I had eggs mayonnaise, followed by simple grilled chicken with a huge mound of French beans which were perfectly prepared and therefore delicious. For pudding we both had the crème brulee, which was super-creamy and exceptionally delicious, still warm, with a lovely bittersweet crunchy toffee topping - it was as good as any I've ever had anywhere, even in five-star hotels in Paris! This is a great, unpretentious little place for lunch. And the waitress was helpful and friendly - and the service excellent. If you're in Chartres and looking for lunch.....look no further!"

"When in Chartes, do what some local people do, enjoy the atmosphere of a typical good brasserie. We dined amongst a couple of ladies of the town, a gentleman from an office, teenagers and all. I had a Pelforth brune beer, croque monsieur and double...expresso, my lady had a tonic, braised chicory/ham au gratin, a gorgeous au gratin dessert, for which I had my own spoon supplied by the all knowing waiter and a herbal tea to finish. Throughout, our bread basket and water were replenished, a sign of a good attentive waiter. Service was impeccable, often in France I find that you are not chased to pay and tourists are annoyed by this, relax in the afterglow of the meal. If you need to leave and can not gain the attention of the waiter, simply go to the bar and pay, there is no problem. Watch the handshakes, kisses and smiles and you may realise how life should be, where there is a good welcome for all including grumpy tourists!"

"This is a small and very nice restaurant with simple but very good food for a reasonable price. It was quite full during lunchtime but the service was very fast and the staff was very friendly. From the start to the dessert, nothing to complain about. I really recommend this place which is located in a shopping center area. Easy to park your car and for free."
