"Mr. is here for Valentine's dinner. The staff was very welcoming and accomodating, we never had to wait until our meals are freshly cooked for us... I had the serloin steak with clobular chips, onion rings, mushrooms, tomatoes and rocket salad... The Lord had double egg,ham, peas, and clobular chips... Everything very pleasant, with a few nice drinks... It is a very pretty village pub and we will be worth a visit..."

"My friend and I went to an early dinner last night and it was absolutely great. super friendly staff at the arrival that serves us immediately. a very chilled and busy atmosphere, which was well seen on Wednesday night. the food was delicious and the portion sizes were very generous! excellent value for money for really high quality eating this place is a wonderful hidden gem. would be highly recommended and will definitely return very soon!"

"Yes, Mercer's serves meat, but they also make great efforts with vegan fare. The two ladies are vegetarian and want to offer more vegan offers. However, they were sometimes discouraged by the attitudes of some vegans, even to the extent that they were uncertain, they even wanted to be on Happy Cow. All this came out after we had eaten and when we said we had found them about Happy Cow and were so glad they were there! The owner explained that she cooks and purifies everything completely separately to ensure that there is no cross-contamination, and added that it would be both inappropriate and disrespectful to do everything except. This takes time and she had criticism that the service was not fast enough as a result of vegans. We ordered a vegan breakfast and teas and actually felt that the service was fast. In addition to breakfast (toast, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, sausage, bacon, served with vegan margarine), there were several other options including a burger and a quiche. They also have vegan mayonnaise and offer soy or oat milk. Another criticism was that they did not offer enough vegan choices, but there were definitely several options that we would have gone and we were so happy to find this beautiful place. The friendly staff definitely has a desire to care for vegans and it would be a shame if this was discouraged by other vegans on the way. If we're back in the area, we'd definitely return. We would have given them 5 stars for their efforts if it were allowed."
