"It just doesn't seem right but whenever starbucks is full, we consider their coffee. hahaha! maybe we're just too lazy to get to other nearby branches plus we've already parked here. i like the outdoor seating for no particular reason but i could get swarmed by mosquitoes."

"I had a chance to try out Pablo's Pub and Restaurants thanks to the generous people, and not to mention good looking people of Zomato (Thanks guys for inviting us!). At its core, Pablo's is just one of the dozens of restaurant bars lying around in BGC, or is it? That's what we're going to find out in this review.
AmbianceIt has the typical restaurant bar look and feel to it due to its dark rustic interior and liquor bar on the side, but it also has some quirks. It has a fake library at the back which is actually a sliding door for its function room. According to the owner, the function room can hold from 15- 20 people and it also has a built-in tv inside all for Php 10,000 consumable food and beverage. As a side trivia, the name Pablo's is actually a reference to Pablo Escobar, a Colombian drug lord known for being the richest criminal in history (There is also a tv show being aired right now, called Narcos which revolves around the life of Pablo Escobar). The look and feel of the restaurant is supposed to be a tribute to one of Pablo Escobar's cartels.
FoodPablo's has been here for a few years now and I've heard from the owner that they've slimmed down their offerings to better control their inventory as well as the quality of the food itself. Right now, they offer mostly known comfort food, with a lot of liquors, as expected with a bar.
For starters, we tried out their Paprika Fries(Php 160). These are hand-cut fries seasoned with paprika, served with mayonnaise and tomato ketchup on the side. It's not as spicy as I previously thought, but it's seasoned well enough, good for sharing. Other than that, there is nothing too special about it. But I'm pretty sure my partner will love it.
Next, we had their Spicy Chicken Tenders(Php 250). Personally, I think they nailed this one. The marinate on these fried chicken cubes are just perfect, offering a mix of sweet, spicy and savory flavors. It has a sour cream dip on the side should you choose, but you can enjoy this dish just the same without it.
For a more appropriate Filipino bar dish, we got to try out their take on Chicharon Bulaklak( Php 230) or Crispy Pork Intestines. It is a lot crispier than I'm used to and their use of lemon infused vinegar is really creative of the chef. Other than that, this is a good version of the classic pulutan( Filipino's drinking meal).
Last but not the least, they offered us their best seller, the Pablo's Cheeseburger(Php 190). It got the essentials, like the lettuce, tomatoes, special dressing, and the cheese(otherwise, this wouldn't be called a cheeseburger). The patty, though is actually really thin at this price range, is at least condensed. So far it's a pretty ordinary dish, but the real star of the show here is their buns, which is a buttered brioche bun. The buns are really light and fluffy, it's easy to lift the whole thing while keeping all of its ingredients intact. I like that its buttered to give the whole burger more flavor. Some people might not like it, but I definitely do.
For our beverage, I went first with the Cranberry juice. Its a typical cranberry juice drink complete with its sour flavor. Perfect for those non-alcoholic drinkers out there. The next one is the Jameson and Coke. For those unaware, Jameson is a whiskey and I actually prefer its mixture with coke more than the Jack Daniels due to its more smooth feel to it.
Overall, I think that Pablo's Pub and Restaurant is reasonable. It has average to more than average tasting food for really affordable prices for a BGC restaurant, much less a bar. This is perfect for those looking for a good place to unwind after a very stressful week on a budget.

yogoandcream.com"

"It hasn’t been that long since Tokyo Tokyo released their Wagyu Burgers and now they’re at it again with the new Sriracha Donburi. Sriracha Donburi. For only PHP 155 (or USD 3.09), you get to have a huge filling bowl. The donburi has onion rings, nitamago egg, tempura crumbs and my favorite beef misono placed over Sriracha flavored rice. Sriracha mayonnaise is drizzled on top. Chopped green onions are added as garnish. ...

"First time at The Cook since looking for a quiet place to eat and were surprised the place wasn't too crowded on a Saturday night. The ambiance was quaint with the weird element of large teddy bears on most of the tables.

We ordered the Pork Steak Pilaf and the Calamansi Ade as both were suitable for 2 people. Wasn't too impressed with the goodbye as it was just calamansi halves in soda water with crushed ice. It took a while for the calamansi flavor to really spread in the drink, and even then it was almost all soda.

The pork steak itself was delicious and well cooked. The rice pilaf had great taste too and the garlic and onion slices added a nice flavor. The only challenge is that there was only so much pork, a hell of a lot of pilaf, and not as many vegetables as hoped. I was hoping for a bit more variety of flavors, but instead you only get a lot of one flavor so it gets a little boring after a while.

As a fusion restaurant, our food definitely felt more Italian than Korean. The dish is served with no frills and without the side dishes and sauces that we appreciate in typical Korean restaurants. It's definitely a chef-run place as the choice of meat options is very limited, but with either salad, pasta, or pilaf. But they're one that doesn't have much to say when you end up getting a committee on the large plate you order."

"In an attempt to start my review with something informative, i found myself dumbfounded. Empingao doesnt have any pop culture reference nor literary influence. All i know is that it translates to f$&#ing awesome. One of those colloquial terms frequently used in conversation.

The visit was ages ago and this review has been stuck in my backlogs for x number of months. The visit was a combination of recon work and dinner.

Interior. Empingao is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall joint. The place is small and it is not as eye-catching from afar. There is an air-conditioned area that can probably accommodate 10 people.

Grub.

Salmon Tacos. Three bite-sized tacos with grilled salmon, mango mayonnaise, chimichuri and lettuce. Another taco that i liked. The mayo x chimichuri combination works well with the salmon. Now here's the fun part, despite my love for dem tacos, i think this a lil pricey for the size (bite-sized in the purest sense of the word). We... read more"

"We decided to eat here because my friend loves Japanese and its her birthday.

The restaurant was nice, it is well lit and it smells nice. The staff was really helpful and all smiles.

The food, well its 50-50 for us. What we like are the Aburi Uni Roll, which is in the board special, and the Japanese fried rice. Both was really nice, prepared/cooked/seasoned really well. And their house tea was really good. ????????

What we don't like is the Tempura platter (we mentioned this to the staff) its seems that the oil they used is old. It taste funny and definitely not worth the 475pesos. The Yakitori Omakase 7, we only like the Enoki Mushroom, Cherry tomato and Garlic with Chicken Skin. The other sticks didn't excite us. ????

After dinner, I asked my friend if she will come back, she said probably not. And just to note we ended up getting some ice cream elsewhere so that we can end the night with a smile."

"Slice is a restaurant that serves comfort food with healthy choices. The first time I went here, I tasted their Tres leeches and God, it was to die for. I said to myself that I will come back to try their savory dishes on their menu. So, I did come back together with my sister. We ordered their Hungry Man's Eggs Benedict and Salmon Burger. Their Eggs Benedict's serving is A LOT. The Eggs were nicely poached. The ham was okay I wanted more sear on it though. The greens were a little bland and the bread underneath was already soggy because of the hollandaise. The hollandaise for me was okay. Nothing really special. It kind of gave me an "umay" feeling but the crisp bacon on top was a nice touch. After every bite, I got tired of its taste so I didn't finish it. The salmon burger was fine. The salmon patty was a bit dry and the teriyaki glaze was normal. The oat bun was a bit stale. I didn't really like the texture. The slice chips of course, will always be... read more"
