"We’ve been coming to The Sawmill restaurants for years maybe or more. In the past, the service was top knotch, high end; the ambiance was dark, cozy, romantic and the food presentation and taste was always spot on….I’m so disappointed to say that...our last visit was far from any of our past experiences. Firstly, the ambiance is now ‘cafeteria’ like. The lighting is full blast, tables are not beautifully set prior to arrival, tables are not positioned to provide the restaurant with a cozy, romantic, high end feel A The fireplace wasn’t even lit! Our server was polite and VERY enthusiastic! ‘Awesome! That’s what I like to hear!!’ Is not conducive to the level of dining experience we expected. The food was mediocre. Again, not the level of The Sawmill of the past. I have to wonder if Tom Goodchild still owns/operates this restaurant? The group may have won dining accolades in the past but it’s been a while…."

"This is my favourite desi restaurant to dine in. There’s a dish that I specifically ask for and even though it’s not on their menu, no one makes it better than them (I’m gonna keep it my little secret). The service is usually great but this time around the server seemed a little fast paced which caused him to misunderstand us a few times. The food is always exceptional, seriously, give that chef a raise. The environment is very classy. Love everything!"

"Just got home after a fabulous birthday dinner at SABOR. It was perfect. The server was exceptional and helped guide us as it was our first time visiting. He was knowledgable and answered all our questions.He let us settle in and made us feel like there was no rush, we could take as long as we needed. He filled our glasses and was very attentive. We chose the family style meal and added some extras to the first course. The oysters were spectacular as were the piri piri prawns. The mussels and clams were tender and delicious in a creamy tomato sauce. We added the eggplant curry dip which was delightful as were the marinated olives. The main course consisted of haddock and sea bream on a bed of lobster risotto. It was rich and full of flavour and oh so much of it. We couldn 't finish it. Trio of desserts was lovely, creme broulee style custard, tart cherry cheesecake and a lovely bitter chocolate mousse which contrasted nicely with everything else. We went through 2 bottles of the villa real rose and were treated to 2 special 'birthday ports ' for our celebration. It was a truly exceptional dining experience. The best we have had in Edmonton at any restaurant by far. We will definitely be back!"

"Valentine dinner. The set ... 5 course .... menu actually has multiple choices for 3 out of the 5 courses. First course ... a rose for the lady and sparkling cranberry wine with a cherry at the bottom and a salmon moose tart. Second course...... an appetizer ... I chose the tuna carpaccio... wow ... and the wife chose the tandoori colleyflower Third course.... red or white wine ... A cheese plate for two AND a choice of 5 salads salads ... Vons makes the most original and tantalizing salads in the city ... I chose the wine poached pear with cranberries... the wife chose tandoori colleyflower with cucumber yogurt.... we both needed a take home box because we could only finish half of it all. Fourth course ... the entire... choice of 14 oz Tbone ... 10oz Waygu ... Crown of Lamb ... Surf and turf ... and somtjing else ... chicken I think. Half of the Waygun and half of my surf and turf was added to the doggy bag. They were huge plates loaded with just delicious food. And 5th course was desert. We split one huge decadant crumbly and took the other home (seperate container) with the take home box. The place was packed. Our server Michelle was awsome. Other dinner guest were fun to talk to. It was a fantastic night around... getting out to one of our favorite restaurants after a prolonged self imposed shut in ... wow .... great food ... great service.... great ambiance.... we left laughing all the way home. Of course the two extra glasses of wine I ordered helped. The Divivo new Zealand white Cabernet has the most amazing spizy bouquet. Definitely doing valentines there next year."
