"“Gasthaus Hiaslwirt” is situated in a main street, but is so inconspicuous that it could easily be overlooked if there were not its yellow name-plate on the façade. It is obvious from the outset that this place does not aspire to be a high-class restaurant. It rather seems to be a meeting place for inhabitants of the surrounding apartment blocks. I had lunch there on a very hot day and was seated in a wooden pavilion in the backyard.On the one hand the atmosphere was not great. The chairs were not all of the same kind, the table-cloth was stained and the view through the open kitchen door was not pleasant. From time to time the wind blew kitchen smell through the outside seating area. On the other hand this turned out to be an advantageous spot on a hot day because it was airy and the heat was not intense there. Moreover, one is well protected from the traffic noise of the very busy street and would therefore hardly believe that this street is only a few meters away.One may choose between the menu of the day and the dishes of the unpretentiously styled, but quite comprehensive permanent menu. The latter focuses on Austrian cuisine and is dominated by breaded meat dishes. They seem to be the specialty in “Gasthaus Hiaslwirt”.The waitress may perhaps not have acted professionally in every respect, but she excelled in being friendly and swift. Portions were huge, as became also evident from the surrounding tables. Of course, my dish was not nicely decorated, but it consisted mostly of fresh ingredients rather than preserves and its taste was quite alright. A bit astonishing was the fact that the mineral water ordered was not even soda water, but tasted like tap water. Normally, in Austria “mineral water” is tacitly assumed to be carbonated if it is not specified further. Nonetheless, in view of the low prices “Gasthaus Hiaslwirt” offers good value for money if one takes all aspects into account."

"While the interior of this restaurant is quite attractive without being distinctive, I preferred to sit at the terrace, which is the hallmark of this place. It provides a marvelous view over the valley and the town of Bruck an der Mur. Although at least two thirds of the totality of seats inside and outside were empty, I had to wait for a quarter of an hour to receive a menu and to be asked for a drink, which took further ten minutes to be served. This was a real nuisance and I saw other guests being affected by this extremely slow service too. Evidently, there was only a single waiter on duty, who tried his best, but could not cope with the number of guests present. The rather limited standard menu, which was complemented by two dishes of the day, comprised almost exclusively classics of the Austrian cuisine, no specialties or particularly creative dishes. It was dominated by many variants of schnitzel, all of which cost roughly 10 euros. Vegetarians would have to be content with a salad platter because this was the only main course on the menu suitable for them. The time from ordering to receiving my meal was also fairly long, but not excessive. I found the roast turkey salad quite good, though the meat was a bit too salty for my liking. In my opinion, this restaurant is of an average price level in view of the food offered, the enormous portion sizes and the ambience of this place. The reference that the name of this restaurant makes to heaven does not seem to stem from heavenly performance, but solely from the somewhat advanced altitude at which it is located. Note that Himmelwirt is basically a lunch restaurant because the kitchen closes already when the evening breaks."

"It just fits everything. the warm reception by the wetin, the nice ambiente, the menu very well designed with enough selection of foods (menu suggestions) and drinks, good wine selection, you can also go on extra requests, although only the wetin alone serves and the chef in the kitchen works with a kitchen help do not create long waiting times. eating delicious, you can notice the quality of the ingredients. we will recommend the dahoam (table reserve!) and will be back safely."

"Had luck to get a shady little bite, were by chance past there at midday (or already saluted, since over 30 degrees in the shadow.) the house is totally sweet with crumbles and blooms completed, you don't realize that next door is the street (and behind the mur.) the eating was very good, the compositions were already more sophisticated and the kitchens. also the lunch menu was very good, the service was very fast and attentive. we remember the spot for another visit!"

"Best carpaccio I've had. Meat was very full of flavor! In addition, a steak tartare also with perfect texture and fresh meat taste. Waiter was very friendly, despite the fact that we only arrived at 21.50 and the kitchen closed at 22.00, we were able to choose something at our leisure. Nice restaurant very big, which you can't see from the garden. Prices are reasonable."
