""Ganslschmaus" at its best !This countryside restaurant 10 min away from Klagenfurt combines a lot : Great, authentic service, honest cooking with fresh ingredients from regional producers only, a nice intimate atmosphere with a lot of local people, a wonderful view to the close Italian/Slovenian borderline mountains and the Drau river !I was there last Sunday with my wife for lunch (reservation !): It wasn't our first visit so we were looking forward to a pleasant dining adventure, but I can tell you this time our expectations were exceeded by far: Beginning from the goose- and the meat strudel soup up to the roasted goose (+sweet chestnuts, red cabbage and dumplings) in its own juice and the boiled beef "The Bat" with fresh vegetables , horseradish, potatoes in home made beef soup and finally to the desert, apple with vanilla sauce we were served honest exquisitely prepared dishes with wine pairing and, thanks a lot,with no frill ! Addition: The staff in the restaurant is an experience of its own !This genuine dining experience for a very moderate price made our Sunday !We are already looking forward to the next gastronomic events perhaps in the form of pork and game feasts or the Meat Platter in this recommendable inn "Kirschnerhof".Thanks go to family Gross and employees !"

"Sinceramente mi aspettavo di meglio! Abbiamo mangiato un piatto misto con Carne alla griglia e un'insalata con totani fritti, ma non mi Hanno soddisfatto molto. L'ambiente è carino e curato nella sala interna, ma all'entrata c'è la sala fumatori e tra l'odore di fumo e il fritto dalla cucina, non è che sia molto invitante."

"Es war Freitag 16:30, ein Freund hat ohne Vorwarnung Zeit für ein gemeinsames Abendessen. Und jetzt? Weihnachtszeit in Österreich, keine Chance einen Tisch in einem der üblichen Restaurants in Klagenfurt zu bekommen ... Frust ... nicht nur auf meiner Seite, auch meine Telefonanrufe werden meist nicht gerade freundlich entgegen genommen. Verstehe natürlich ... Weihnachtsstress überall, aber trotzdem ... man muss ja nicht gleich ausgelacht werden, oder?Und dann wage ich doch noch einen letzten Anruf: „7. Himmel“ mit einer sehr guten Bewertung auf „tripadvisor“, aber mir unbekannt - und der Name ... naja, zumindest mal was Anderes. Also ich wähle die Nummer und zu meiner Überraschung: eine freundliche Stimme am anderen Ende des Kabels, die zu mir sagt: "Schwierig", dann kurzes Schweigen und danach die Frage: "Wären Sie mit einem kleinen Tisch zufrieden, ich könnte da was machen" ...Ich überglücklich aber doch etwas gespannt komme um 19:00 in den 7. Himmel - im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes: trotz vollem Haus und Weihnachtsfeierstimmung (aber nicht DIE unangenehme!) werde ich sehr freundlich begrüßt, so als ob ich schon seit Jahren Stammkunde wäre, und es gibt ein nettes Tischchen perfekt für den Abend. Das Service - 2 Herren, die uns abwechselnd bedienen - wie schaffen die es trotz des Trubels so höflich, zuvorkommend und humorvoll zu sein? Guter Schmäh würde man in Wien sagen, aber nicht aufdringlich - selten so etwas erlebt, und schon gar nicht zu dieser Zeit des Jahres. Die Speisen, ein Genuss. wir wurden darauf hingewiesen, dass die Speisen im 3-gängigen Menü etwas kleiner sind als wenn man diese einzeln bestellt, daher auch der gute Preis (33.- Euro). Wir konstruierten uns jeder ein Menü - und beide von uns waren hingerissen, absolute Spitzenklasse. Und die Portionen, nein, die waren nicht klein, aber mehr wird nicht verraten: selber hingehen und genießen! Aber noch etwas, was ich schon sehr lange nicht mehr erlebt habe: obwohl soviel Betrieb war, wurden wir nach jedem Gang gefragt, ob wir eine Pause machen wollen, oder die nächste Speise bald serviert werden soll! Wir haben den Abend bis fast zur Sperrstunde genossen! Und noch was: das hausgemachte Habanero-Chili-Öl, zusammen mit dem Hühner-Curry ... ich muss jetzt aufhören zu schwärmen, habe heute leider keine Möglichkeit wieder dort zu sein.Nur noch eines: im Himmel, damit es sich lohnt dort landen zu wollen (also später dann mal), muss es einen ausgezeichneten Espresso geben ... im „7. Himmel“ gibt es diesen schon jetzt! Kein Grund warten zu müssen!"

"We were looking for a place with operating kitchen in mid-April (there's almost nothing open around the lakes this time) and found this quaint place in Klagenfurt. The waitresses are really nice, they have really tasty food for a reasonable price and they are very dog friendly. It is recommended to sit outside as smoking is allowed inside in Austria."

"We were attracted to “Kaerntner Hamatle” when we passed by at lunchtime on a warm summer day and saw a few empty tables under the huge sunshades of its outside seating area. Although the latter is separated from a main street only by a hedge and a small parking site it was not too noisy. The tables were nicely set with colored tablecloths and everything appeared to be clean. However, we were tortured from the outset by the very uncomfortable folding chairs.Two menus of the day were advertised on a chalkboard at the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. A friendly waitress, perhaps herself the proprietor, arrived swiftly. The permanent menus that she brought us were quite used up and not attractive by their look and feel because they consisted of plainly formatted lists put into polypropylene pockets. But more importantly, they were comprehensive. Austrian and in particular Carinthian cuisine with their classics, which are ubiquitous at the restaurants here, dominated and most of them were meat dishes. But we also found some interesting, not so common dishes on the menu.We did not have to wait long for our main courses. They tasted good and the portions were very large. Even if one takes the moderate standing of this restaurant into account, its prices are absolutely reasonable. We did not see what the inside of “Kaerntner Hamatle” was like, but at least when the weather makes it preferable to sit outside eating at this restaurant can in our opinion be recommended."
