"Bin schon oft vorbei gefahren und habe nur Positives gehört, war also entsprechend gespannt... Hatten am Sonntag für 5 Personen um 14Uhr reserviert. Wir wurden von der Chefin, die mit einer weiteren Servierkraft für unser Wohlbefinden zuständig war, zum Tisch in Damast mit Stoffservietten und Wasser- u Weingläser eingedeckten Tisch geleitet. Speisekarte regional modern österreichisch, das heißt nicht nur Schweinefleisch im Angebot, auch Fisch, Huhn und Rind sowie "Kärntner Käsnudel“ (für den Vegetarier); auch ein 3- oder 4-gängiges Tagesmenü. Weinkarte vornehmlich österreichisch (Niederösterreich, Steiermark als Schwerpunkt, aber auch Wenn aus Kärnten im Angebot). Gruß aus der Küche klein und fein, als Vorspeisen (in angenehmer Portionsgröße) wählten wir Salat und Rindsuppe m Frittieren (beides wohlschmeckend) und Beef Tartare (leider mit Fertig?-Würze überwürzt). Als Hauptspeise hatten wir Vokgemüse mit Lachsmedaillons, Lachsforelle mit Kartoffel, Gegrillte Fleischstücke mit Pommes, Käsnudel mit Salat, Wiener Schnitzel. Als Dessert noch Palatschinke mit Eis, Panna Cotta mit Erdbeeren, Apfelstrudel mit Vanillesauce, zum Abschluss Kaffee. Brot auf Bestellung wurde extra aufgebacken. - Ein schönes gepflegtes Landgasthaus, mit Liebe betreut. Essen, Tisch und Gläser für das Auge sehr schön präsentiert, alles sauber. Service bestens. Essensportionen sehr angenehm (nicht zu riesig), Geschmack ganz okay. Preise leicht erhöht (zb Wiener Schnitzel m Kartoffel u Preiselbeeren €13,80, Vorspeise BeefTartare € 12,60)Gerne jederzeit wieder. Eine sichere Bank"

"We ate here mid afternoon during our holiday in Carinthia. It 's a charming place, nicely situated and near Hochhosterwitz castle. It looks to be beautifully renovated without being fussy and we found it very comfortable. The room we were in had a lovely exposed brick vaulted ceiling. The menu is written in dialect and this was a nice original touch. It seems that the owners have put a lot of thought into this restaurant and it 's well promoted and advertised with interesting promotional events. There are different special offers for every day of the week. We visited on 'steak ' day but we didn 't have the steak. The other days include backhendel on a Saturday and there 's a fish day. The food was good. We had meat patties with mash and gravy, and a meat and cheese platter. There was also a sweet noodle dish of what looked like Karnter nudels filled with a sweet nut filling and covered in melted butter. Prices were very reasonable and as I recall the main courses we had were around 10 euros each maximum. Everything about the place was good apart from the attitude of the staff. Our waitress was pleasant enough but there was a lot of bustling about preparing for the night, or the following day which was a bank holiday. We felt as though we were in the way. At one point, the restaurant manager and the waitress came up to our table and proceeded to adjust our tablecloth because it wasn 't straight. There 's Austrian efficiency and there 's a fussiness that is over the top. We were not bothered if the tablecloth was straight or not. We 'd rather have had a friendly conversation and a warmer welcome. That really was the only thing lacking at this lovely restaurant. That said, I would like to go back and give it another chance and would certainly recommend it for the food and the atmosphere."

"On the journey home from italia, on which search for a good gas house, it devoured us because of the good Google reviews in the sonnhof in st. veit an der glan. we all decided to carve or cordon bleu (salat was in each case.) top price/performance ratio! unfortunately there was no menu on the internet. we find something like that in person, because then you can taste what you have to eat."
