"We ordered a takeaway on a Sunday evening about 7.30pm after returning from holiday. I ordered through Just eat and was advised of about a 45 minute wait, no problem so placed the order. Straight away though the restaurant updated a new approximate delivery time of 8.50pm. We decided to go ahead with it but come 9pm no food had arrived. I phoned up to be informed the food is on its way and should be there soon, there had been an issue in the kitchen earlier. At 9.15pm still no food! I phoned again and the woman admitted the food had left but there were several other deliveries on the route. When the food did arrive at nearly 9.30pm it was cold and tasteless. The kung po chicken was more like mystery meat and the chips were soggy and seemed like they were cooked a long time previously. For 2 mains, 2 sides and a soup, the all in price of nearly £20 was extortionate. I've used this takeaway a couple of times previously when it was better but I will definitely never use them again and would advise others not to either."

"Lovely staff and great service. The vegan breakfast was delicious, filling and well presented. Service was quick, Charlotte was friendly and attentive The only thing that would have made it better would have been a butter knife for the toast but that is a very minor gripe. Shall be returning!"

"Waited at bar for minutes no eye contact from the staff who chatted among themselves while one made coffee then served an older man who called for a beer. Barmaid must have saw me at that point but didn't acknowledge me. I got fed up and went across the road to another bar where I was served immediately in a friendly manner. I won't be back in the Auld Hole -very poor service particularly in a town that draws visitors"

"Had to wait for table,which wasn't a problem as knew it was busy due to bank holiday,took our order quickly but unfortunately waited nearly an hour for food to come,no one came for quite a while to ask,a larger group of people arrived approx 15 mins after us and had all of their food before us.When it eventually arrived,mine was delicious but my daughters vegan paella was very salty and she couldn't finish it,cheesecakes were outstanding tho."

"It is very rare for us to say when visiting a new place that we want to go back a second time on our second night. We went for the chicken kebab with rice, a chicken kebab with chips, a pepperoni pizza with chips and chicken cooked in a mushroom and cream sauce. It is an Italian restaurant and the chicken kebab was cooked perfectly, the meat was tender and was very tasty. The pepperoni pizza was not at all greasy and was of a good size. The mushroom and cream sauce with the chicken was lovely. All very tasty, absolute compliments to the chefs working there, they should be very proud of themselves. The service was great and for a three course meal was very good value for money. If we were ever near Edinburgh again, we would definitely book this restaurant again."
