"I ordered lion head meatballs with rice and lemon pancakes for the desert. the meatballs were quite decent, not excessively salty. the pancake was like that. it was more on the dry side and the sugar was not evenly distributed. with what is said, the entire culinary experience was pleasant. the staff was friendly and the place was clean and soothing. "Actually, I was looking for Restaurant YouYou at the underground mall of Taipei Main Station. It was closed, but someone called me Xiū Yuán SùShí. It's easy to find: Walk over exit Z8. After a few steps you can turn right into a smaller road. This is where Xiū Yuán SùShí is located (trying to recognize it from the photo, there is no Western script everywhere . Xiū Yuán SùShí looks cheap and dirty. People have to share a table. The building and the furniture are old and worn. The open kitchen at the entrance is chaotic. When I entered, I got a large laminated English menu and the order (not a friendly request to go out the way and sit down. A local who helps me choose. He chose fake fish with steamed rice for me, with Chinese drug soup on the side. He also made me taste some of his meals (the soup from the leaves of the sweet potato was very good! . His selection was the culinary highlight of my trip! See before I visited the first-class vegan places that offer great food, but nothing new. They use familiar ingredients to make meals that I can get anywhere in Asia. Xiū Yuán SùShí offers authentic Taiwanese taste. The soup had mushrooms, roots and fruits in it I have never tasted. The mockfish had a unique taste and even the dressing on the vegetables was unique. Sitting with the locals also makes a more authentic experience here. As an additional special bonus, the food is very cheap."
