"Bimbos holds a special place in my heart because it was genuinely the first restaurant I ever went to that blew my mind with a great atmosphere and creativity at its core. My brother introduced me to it over a decade ago. A place where you can sit in an igloo with your friends and eat pizza for $4. Not to mention chocolate pizza before it was a thing and flavoured vodkas sitting in massive bulbs with curly tubes leading to the spout. Pacman and old skool games as tables, records on the wall, high heels on the ceiling and old second-hand couches where you often share a lounge with strangers. Fast forward 15 years and it still exists but has a whole new face. It still has the good vibes and character, I mean, there’s half an aeroplane in the middle of the room."

"My wife and I celebrated Mother's Day dinner at Kanela. We arrived early so we can have dinner before the show. We had to choose 2 tapas out of 6 choices. The Chorizo was tasty and the gambas (prawns) was still sizzling when it was serve ed and it was delish. Our mains was their famous "paella" it was served on a big pan with lots of prawns, mussels, bits of fish and calamaris. Its was a suer dish except the rice was a not cooked well, but overall the food was nice and tasty, and the staff were very attentive and helpful... the Flamenco dance is really "awesome" and "inspiring". Good value indeed, and i would highly recommend this if you want something different and special for your "special"one."

"Recently came here to have a cuppa, read the last chapter of my book and a bite to eat. What a gorgeous little place. Inside there is plenty of places to sit as well as a courtyard out the back. Food was very nice, coffee hot and was allowed to just do my own thing without being bothered. The chunky chips were delicious and a friend who dropped in proceeded to eat almost all of them. When I asked for extra sauce, it was delivered quickly and we weren't charged for it. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking is the usual you'd expect on Brunswick Street - observe time limits. Toilets clean. Staff are delightful"

"I think we've found our new fav Souva place since we lost our trusty Russell St shop to a dumpling reincarnation many years ago, The lamb is lovely here!! Have tried a few souva places but they never quite hit the spot not enough salad, not enough tzatziki, not enough lamb, lamb not tasty etc. This will be our new souva pickup before tennis. Nothing beats a good souva and original Coke for lunch at the tennis!"

"After reading great reviews online, I suggested to a friend that we meet for dinner here. It was a cold, wet and windy Melbourne night and I was looking forward to some Italian food, especially because I hadn't had 'proper' Italian for a long time. The service was very friendly and efficient. There was a nice cosy atmosphere, with only a handful of tables inside and attentive, happy staff. We ordered a nice New Zealand sauvignon blanc to start, and decided to order the rice balls as an entree. Three decent sized portions arrived. They had porcini mushroom and taleggio inside. They were tasty, warm and comforting. Lots of flavour too. We each had the beef/pork bolognese, which was quite a decent serving. Unfortunately I found that it didn't come out very hot and because we were talking while eating, it was almost cold when I was still eating it. The size was quite a decent size considering it wasn't technically a 'main'. I decided to try a dessert too, so we shared the chocolate fondant and also had tea/coffee. This was absolutely divine! And once again perfect for a cold miserable night. Warm chocolate sauce oozed out of it when it was cut, and it was perfect with the vanilla ice cream and strawberries on the side.I'd recommend this spot for a cosy intimate dinner. I'd also recommend making a booking as it isn't a huge place. The staff work really hard and genuinely care about your experience. Worth giving a tip and a thank you at the end!!"
