"I've been hunting good tacos in D.C. since I moved here from Denver a dozen years. These were fantastic.Flavors are authentic, bright and fresh. House made tortillas are perfect, flavorful and soft but stout enough to hold those delicious fillings. Carne asada was the bomb, lengua was subtle but delicious, cauliflower grilled to the next level, gorgeous. Rockfish was tasty. The toppings for all were piquant and played just right, not too much, but fully playing their role. Eager to try more. Atmosphere is fun, small, crowded, but it was easy to hear each other, which is increasingly rare. Staff was great, prices very good for D.C. Thrilled to find this place and I will be back soon."

"The food and drinks were great. The service wasn't great at all. The hostess was rude and not friendly at all. You are told to order using a QR code or you can wait for a waitress. We waited, but no one came so we had to flag someone down to help us. She ended up being extremely friendly and great, but just wish we didn't have to ask her to help us. The food came out quickly and the meal was great. It was just hard anytime we needed something because we continued to have to flag someone down or had to wait a long time. Not sure I'd go back even for the great food since the service wasn't the best. It was also a hot day so they said their air conditioning wasn't working well and they had to use back up air. But it was HOT. So hot that everyone was sweating and complaining."

"Tortilla cafe has amazing papusas! Try the papusa platter, you won't be disappointed. It also comes with two sides of your choosing. This is a fast place to grab a quick bite, and on the cheaper side, but definitely delicious."

"I rarely write negative reviews and I’m generally easy to please, but we ended up being pretty disappointed with our meal. The only redeeming factor was the tres leches cake which was delicious. We ordered takeout and it took forever despite the fact that it didn’t appear to be busy. The al pastor in the enchiladas was pretty dry and there wasn’t much of it in the enchiladas. We didn’t receive any chips with the queso dip we ordered. We just decided to wait and have the dip the next day for lunch no big deal. I figured even though the meal wasn’t great, how could they mess up queso dip? When we ate it the next day, we realized it was basically just Velveeta with a bit of meat thrown in pretty much the quality of dip you’d receive if your ordered nachos at a high school football game. I’m not trying to slam this restaurant with a terrible review, but it was not what I was expecting, so I wanted to share my experience to help temper others’ expectations. If you’re looking for a quick meal at approximately Taco Bell quality, then cool. Otherwise, you may not enjoy the food here. We really wanted to like it, but it just wasn’t great."
