"We had been looking at the menu boards noticed that everything looked very reasonably priced as well as being interesting with good choice. We arrived on time were given the choice of where we sat, the main bar or the separate dining room, the bar was chosen as much cosier to make sure of our seats for the quiz. The meals were served fairly promptly, by Magda her mother on fashionable square plates, all nicely presented offers to get whatever sauces condiments we required. The food was excellent, I had beef rib from the specials while several had the homemade steak pie. All the meals were pronounced excellent while most of those who didn't vowed to have the steak pie next time. A very friendly public house restaurant which had previously slipped under my radar, Excellent value."

"Organised a hen party here and we had such great service from start to finish! Beautifully decorated, excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere. Really enjoyed the Sunday lunches and the vegetarian option of butternut squash, beetroot and feta stack was incredible. Thank you!"

"We 've just moved to the region and Tuxford Mill is, thankfully, exceptional in our experience so far. On arrival, we saw signs warning against eating any food not purchased on premises; also groups of six or more could not be accommodated WHAT?! . Does chewing gum count, or wine gums? Thought this all a bit odd. Beautiful windmill. On entering the Cafe building we greeted a young female staff member and were completely ignored. A sign advised us to 'Wait Here to be Seated '. Is this a classy restaurant, we two adults, two children wondered. No; it 's a Cafe! Oh well; we were given a choice of tables all marked 'Reserved ', strangely . We ordered tea for three £4.80 , one squash and four slices of cake. The menu gave no prices for the cake. The bill came to £18 £18! Cake and tea was good but not exceptional. Customer service slow, unfriendly and distracted. My advice: employ fewer people. Clean toilets tick. All in all, very little to write home about...which is a shame, because were visited with a view to regular purchases of flour in large quantities. Won 't return. Far too expensive and we 're clearly too much trouble."

"Went for afternoon tea. £25 for two people. Poor start to the experience, we asked the girl serving us some basic questions about the menu and she couldn 't answer a single one, so she checked with another member of staff, this happened 4 times and eventually she gave up and sent over the other member of staff and we finally ordered. The afternoon tea consisted of 1 sandwich each (cut into 3 fingers) so only 1 flavour each (I had egg, my husband had salmon and cream cheese) hardly a selection of sandwiches as per the menu. 1 small cherry scone each with jam and cream (whipped not clotted) and 3 very small petit fours each. For £25 I would have expected a lot more food, perhaps a slice of cake (they had tonnes of homemade cakes on the counter which looked nice). Food was very basic, the egg mayo was just that, no cress etc. Salmon and cream cheese had very little filling. Cherry scone was bland and stodgy in the middle. Petit fours were small and nothing exciting. Overall for what we had I would have only paid around £10 £15 max. The man who eventually served us was a very pleasant guy, and he seemed a little embarrassed by our response to the lack of food, he did offer to get the chef to make us some additional sandwiches if needed. The place was very quite and I felt like the other guests were starring at us so I didn 't want to make a scene so rather than take him up on the offer we paid up and left. This was meant to be a special treat to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary, but instead we were left disappointed and hungry."

"Waited 1 hour 40 mins for delivery, when the food came it was very disappointing, burnt chips, my sons pizza was burnt, my partners pizza was burnt and my pizza was dry! Just awful, last time we’ll use them, also got order wrong, pointless ringing up to say anything by the looks of the other reviews, really gone down hill"
