"This place is a hidden gem! The staff was friendly and we got seated immediately. They even gave our dog water without us requesting. The chicken Tikka masala is one of the best I've had. Their garlic naan was fresh and perfection. The lamb curry was also very tasty and rich in flavor and spices. I also had the mango lasso and it was delicious and not overly sweet. The food was ready very quickly. I highly recommend this place for a great change of pace from all the other overcrowded mediocre restaurants in town that make you wait over an hour to be served. I can't wait to go back every time I visit big bear!"

"We don't go out for dinner much because we usually end up disappointed with the food, service, and overpriced menus. But Captains Anchorage was soooo good, we went there twice during the week we were at Big Bear Lake. It is an old style log cabin type place that has been there forever. In fact, actor Andy Devine owned the place many years ago and there are still reminders of his influence throughout the restaurant including an old menu (fresh lobster salad for $1.50! . The menu now has a great selection of seafood, steaks, prime rib, pasta with salad or soup (amazing clam chowder , bread, potato included. We had prime rib which was tasty and tender, and shrimp tempura with their homemade tartar sauce. It was all excellent. Service was outstanding. Ask to sit in the bar where Lorraine is the waitress. "OH my gosh such a treat! Just happened to see it and thought we 'd give it a try. So glad we did. Kyle greeted us with a welcome ashore, where are you guys in from ? He took us to the menu, explained things, asked us our tastes and made awesome suggestions. They normally have poke ' bowls but with the shortage in the supply chain they didn 't have any fish. I don 't eat meat so he said they make the poke ' bowls with tofu, I 'm not a tofu fan so I was skeptical. He went back in the kitchen and brought me out a sample to try, a tiny bite size complete with the rice, tofu, crunchys, cucumber and sauce. It was delicious so I went for it. My husband had the pulled pork and loved it. We also had their iced coffee with macadamia milk, so delicious! Kyles brother was at the order desk, totally cool cat, such a fun personality. When we left, Kyle made a point of telling us how much they appreciated us coming in and giving them a try. It was so refreshing to walk into a place where they go out of their way to welcome, serve and make your experience fun. Good job guys!"

"This place looks like a random little blue bow from the road, but he is in the did a precious stone. friendly, enthusiastic service seems a family owner and operated spot and hooray for vegan options! I decided to try the planted crepe that had spinach, garlic, mangle and was delicious! I also had to taste some sweet, so I got the strawberry fields with their homemade chocolate sauce as a vegan sub for the usual nutella that comes in this crepe. vegan cripples are with spellings that I also think makes them gf, but I didn't ask so much not only to take my word for them. overall great experience and it's a running gear thru so could't be more comfortable! highly recommended."
