"This place was a great find on our trip to Kyoto. The owners are super friendly, they make delicious pasta with really fresh ingredient. Super inexpensive, beautiful and clean restaurant. With some of the best prices we have seen in Kyoto."

"Simple and excellent eating elegantly prepared. they have a meal containing fish and ice. I ordered the hot tofu and one of the Tofu skins a la carte. the hot tofu is expensive, but it is great, and they will give them as much extra tofu free as they want. the service is absolutely top notch, and there are more than enough English spoken to treat order. the location is spectacular. they will probably need a reservation to sit outside, but the inner is also beautiful."

"This was a pre fixe only lunch meal for $19. it had about 4 plates with 2 small and 2 large items. some pieces of broth came with fish sauce to remove them. that kept me full all day because there is so much soy! flavours are simple. I wouldn't come back, but I'm glad I tried."

"Tried going here a few times but the shop was closed early without obvious explanation. Success on the third try though and glad for it. I had the vegan burger which was delicious and filling (though deceptively small at first). If you’re in the area this is a great option, but probably not worth crossing town for."

"Itadakizen Kyoto is part of a big group that manage professionally different restaurant around the world and considering the huge investment for the place, the training of the staff and the marketing, they really can't go wrong! Very standard and easy to make food, but i understand that for many tourist is the perfect place for vegan Japanese food in Kyoto."

"The food was ok, nothing great, especially for the price, but the staff was not completely clear of what vegan meant; they knew we could not eat milk, but then brought us a side of chicken! The location is the best in this place as it is in the Gion area. I can't say we're going back, but if you're in a hurry, it's okay."

"Really cute cafe inside a little shop and yoga studio, very peaceful. We had the soup which was mushroom and came with some really nice breads and a salad. Just a little bit small for the price but tasted lovely!"

"Vegan options are clearly marked, but were fewer than I had hoped (why can't the toast and jam be made vegan Aside from the homemade granola, we tried all the vegan offerings: Scone and muffin: the muffin stole the entire (breakfast) show. warm, delicious crispy top, moist on the inside Japanese breakfast: brown rice, soup, sweet potato, tofu, little pickled vegetables. Good value, tasty Salad: fresh but small Coffee: no espresso drinks, but they do cafe au laits. 200 yen off all drinks with breakfast"

"Travelling solo as a vegetarian and found this Michelin guide vegan restaurant. You could book through their website. As this week is the Golden week (28 April to 6 May), it might be the reason why some days are fully booked. Standard menu for me at 3,000 Yen for one person. Comes with hot Japanese tea and you could add on sake or beer. Delicate in the variety of flavors in pickled vegetables, soy and root vegetables. You would need to pay additional 500 Yen to get into the Tenruji temple gardens before you can access the restaurant in an obscure corner next to the main hall and the pond. Pleasant experience. You can pay another 300 Yen to see the world heritage site Tenruji temple’s signature dragon painting (which I did not view). Exit the garden at the north gate to have quick access to the bamboo grove."
