"This restaurant is housed in a manor house of the Merian family at one end of a stunning English garden. It is tailor made for a sunny summer day with a large courtyard restaurant in the back. (Do sit outside. The menu appeared interesting although we were just there for some hydration and a little more blood sugar. So my friend and I tried the house made iced tea which was excellent and we shared an apple strudel with good cinnamon ice cream and some whipped cream. The tea was a mixture of Roiboos with some mint, something citrus--it was a challenge to analyse the flavours and they were beautifully blended. The strudel was very well made. So it has made a good first impression over tea. It would appear from other reviews that things are a bit uneven here but the fact that the management responds to comments is usually a positive sign that they take feedback seriously and adjust things. Let us hope that is true because it is a beautiful setting. The one drawback was that even though things were not very busy the service after the initial contact was quite slow. We were in no rush so this was not a big issue, but it might irritate the impatient. I, for one, plan to return to see what happens next time."
