"This little cicchetti bar is in Canarregio and perfect if you are staying at hotel ca' d'oro. The house wines, as always in Venice, are perfectly quaffable. You can get better quality wines too and of course, the ubiquitous spritz in its many varieties. A few bar stools and a counter let the lucky few sit and rest their weary legs as they tuck into a few tasty bites from the fresh selection on offer."

"We fancied something different after eating so much pasta and pizza, so we went to Fairouz with high hopes, being lovers of Lebanese food. It was a complete rip off for not much food we had humus to start and a chicken shish each...with one rice and it came to €61!!! I’ve had better food for a lot less all over Mestre/Venice. Also the service was rubbish, they clearly served the locals before us. Wouldn’t recommend it."

"After checking into our house 03/30, the host took us on a short tour of the area and we wound up at BABA. We had an espresso, caffe Americano and Aperol Spritz, total for all 3 was only €6,10. Very friendly staff, even allowed us to take, for gratis, a few packs of mint green tea for our sick daughter."

"Wouldn’t visit again. Food was ok, but Gritti and Danieli were much better. Tropicana is actually now just Elimar Beach Bar (and restaurant) on the hotel’s first floor with an endless rear view of cabanas if you’re into that sort of thing. You’d hardly know the ocean was nearby if it weren’t for the sound on the other side of the obstructions. I suppose it’s my fault for planning an anniversary dinner based on the amazing second floor terrace photos they advertised which included endless beach views and open skies. I got something far less romantic than what I expected, and it still cost over 300€. I’d equate it to buying tickets to the Empire State Building, but instead of being taken up top for a world class view of the city, someone just shows you to a basement and still charges you full fare. :"
