"When there is a proper local down the road and a proper pub in the other direction there is no reason to stop here. We stopped for a pie and the gravy was so thick I couldn't pour it and I could stand a spoon...up in it. It was fake tasting and not proper gravy. You could taste granules. I am not paying inflated prices for gravy I could make from a tin. I don't know if it was covid but there were no salt and pepper shakers to flavor the chips and the pie was tasteless. The servers are nice but not helpful and disappeared as soon as the plates hit the table. The burger that my friend got was overcooked and as dry as a frozen patty that was tossed on a grill. I would have gotten a burger but there was no option to get just a normal burger without extra meat or cheese or weird sauce. The people don't seem to know the area, when we went there they didn't know what was close by compared to when we went to a great bar in town afterwards for a drink because we didn't want to stay at the Derwent any longer, they landlady at the next bar recommended all the good pubs and where we should go and what was open. She seemed like a good neighbour and a friendly face They made me feel welcome not like we were intruding or not right or not meant to be there unlike the Derwent which made us feel like we were all wrong and out of place. You can judge a place by the bathrooms and the bathrooms at the Derwent were in need of a good clean, refurb and it feels like the only renovating they have done is superficial."

"Called in for evening meal Saturday night was really busy but staff managed to squeeze us in,staff were lovely and accommodating. meals were excellent and good portion sizes will definitely be back would highly recommend."

"Excellent mixed grill. Good cheap beer in a lovely village boozer. Shame Dads burger was served in a cardboard box on a plate which is a bit odd outside a takeaway. The reserved sign on the available dining tables is also confusing. I love the place though. Sam Smith’s cash only option caused a scare, but that was my fault. Friendly staff too! Thanks."
