"We are staying at the Pestana palace and arrived last evening. We just wanted a meal nearby and found this place on trip advisor. The couple who own it are lovely. The wife translated the entire menu for us. My husband wanted octopus which wasn’t on the menu and they did a lovely octopus and rice dish for 2. We also had olives, bread, prosciutto, bottle of Douro wine and cheese with homemade quince. All for €32. I would definitely recommend visiting this hidden gem. It less than 5 min walk from hotel. It looks like a bar/takeaway on the outside but you walk through to the restaurant and find a lovely decorated room. It was very clean and They were very COVID aware and compliant as well."
